One problem we seem to have is how we understand “good” and “evil”; for example, we tend to see darkness as bad and light as good and yet there is a clear interdependence between these things. Darkness is not always bad and light is not always good - yin yang. We speak of the primordial ground of being as dark, obscure and unknowable, and yet this is from where all of creation springs forth, including our own. That mysterious source is not only the source of everything we fear and dread, but also of everything beautiful and sublime.

An Ojibwa man once told me that in the parable of the two dogs that struggle within our hearts, you don’t just feed one, you feed them both. 🙏

Currently reading “The Courage to be Disliked” and “Why We Think the Things We Think” and there is a lot of references to Jung and the other forefathers of psychology and philosophy in both, really enjoyable and introspective teachings

I am a huge Edinger fan and a student of Jung. I experienced a profound spiritual awakening following Jung's teachings and my own dreams. The Self is real and it is Divine. Your own Self and my own Self are in fact parts of the Divine and directly connected to the Source at all times. The Self radiates bliss, consciousness, and Being. Peace.

Russel, I ordered the book after watching this and it arrived in the mail yesterday after I had forgotten about it. Blazed through it in a day, and really wanted to come back and thank you. I wasn’t raised religious and am not familiar with a lot of these biblical stories, but I really felt this deeply and it helped me understand and view a lot of my present challenges in a new lense.
