Another year, another negotiation with my car insurance providers to get a saving of £200 on my renewal quote. Watch as I save money by simply challenging the renewal quote they gave me!

Last year's premium: £445
This year's renewal: £544
Negotiated price with my insurer: £466
Price from cheapest insurer: £357 (including £30 motor legal protection)
I paid: £377 (I added £20 for personal protection)

If you need help working out how to get cheap insurance, watch "How To Get CHEAPER INSURANCE On Your First Car (*HUGE SAVINGS*)" below:

PLEASE do not take your renewal quote as gospel, this video clearly shows how simple it is to reduce that quote. Even if they give you a half decent renewal, it's worth checking the market regardless to work out whether you can get cheaper elsewhere anyway!

I hope this video helps some of you, if it does, remember to drop me a comment down below, subscribe and like the video for more!

Working in retail for a bit I can say he's quite possibly one of the most well mannered customers I've ever seen 🥺

It frustrates me knowing there are "loyal" people that stick withe the same insurance company and accept the renewal even if it's higher, without trying to shop around. Lock in a quote 23 days prior to renewal. A few years back I got my renewal reduced by £25 by changing my mileage allowance from 6000 to 5999! ONE mile less!!! Sometimes it's very wise to go direct to an insurer's website. See if there are variants of the job titles that still accurately describe your job. You're correct about Sheila's Wheels, I think their female only policy (no pun intended) was seen as discriminatory.

One thing you should always do is once you settle on one insurer check their reviews online through trust pilot. Some of the cheapest are cheap for a reason and have terrible reviews. Luckily for you Sheila's Wheels gets great reviews 👍

I'm currently with Admiral and their renewal was my cheapest quote for 2 years running. Didn't think any company did that. They didn't beat it on my last one, but they couldn't actually beat the cheapest anyway, although with some multicover fiddling they came out cheapest including home insurance. Switching these days is so easy anyway.

Pro tip for young drivers: when you tell your current insurer that you can get cheaper prices elsewhere, if you don't have a black box then just tell them the cheapest one with the black box and see if they can match it anyway. Obviously don't outright lie but nothing wrong with leaving it to them to ask the question!

Edit: [Insert joke here about Sheila's Wheels being insurance for women]...I'm tired, you'll have to think of the joke yourself, sorry.

Nice saving! I haggle every time as well and find that Admiral (who I’m with) will always bring the price down significantly but never quite to the cheapest quote - probably because they know there’s value in staying with the same company as well. How did transferring the NCB from Endsleigh to Sheila’s Wheels work? Was it easy?

My aunt is with Sheila's so I know they are good.

I was quoted £500 for renewal (up from £379 last year), called up threatened to cancel and they dropped it back to £350 WITH breakdown cover which I desperately need with my ageing Mazda 3 🤣

Great video, what was stopping you calling up the new insurance and saying your existing insurance renewal was lower but you’d like to switch, see if they’d bring it down anymore than what’s on compare the market, always worth a try

I understand I've been b*itching over the past few months and sounding like a prick. I was just annoyed at the time as my a levels were doing really bad and I was lile that in general. I'm sorry.

I've got my theory test on Friday lads 🙏

You should get a standard 9n3 GTI on the channel and do a review. I'm torn between Golf 1.8t or Polo 1.8t

When is the best time to start shopping for car insurance? I.e. a month or a week before expiry?

Agreed, l think it's just a stressful time consuming process that's why I think some consumers just accept the renewal quote.

5:03 anyone in the industry know what they actually do when they 'go away to find out'? Like are they just picking up another call or are they actually running your name through all the filters to see what comes out?

Hiya, have a question, can you basically lie when getting an insurance quote, don't have a license and don't want to put my details in so can I just write whatever and still get a quote without them keeping the info?

I usually just lie and don’t tell them about my points and also say I only do about 600 miles a year and only drive on Sunday. I save a load
