Vlog: How I Saved £200 On My Car Insurance (I Got Cheaper Car Insurance For My Old Car)

It's as simple as that. I saved £200 on my car insurance. Using a neat little tactic I discuss in the video, I managed to get cheaper car insurance for my old car and in the process made Jack the Toyota RAV4 a nicer car to be in. And it feels good to have found cheaper car insurance!

Car insurance is mandatory in the UK, and I feel because of this they often have drivers over a barrel with the premiums they charge. When I've tried to get cheaper car insurance, I've tried everything with various degrees of success. As long as you're paying less than last year's insurance premium, then you're doing well!

Plus, it feels that given it's mandatory in the UK to have car insurance, companies like Direct Line Car Insurance have you over a barrel. And the insurance comparison websites like Go Compare, Compare The Market and Money Supermarket don't help you get the cheapest car insurance as much as they really should.

I had often heard about classic car insurance being a cheap way to insure your car, especially if it's 20 or 25 years old. The Toyota RAV4 was the perfect candidate for this, but various classic car insurance quotes came out at nearly 3 times what I paid for the car. It wasn't until I spoke to my own car insurance broker and went about getting insurance a different way, did I manage to get £200 off of my insurance premium.
