Here’s the thing Mello, Roze is a sequel to Lelouch of the Resurrection that is a sequel to 3 recap films. Back in 2017, Sunrise made a trilogy to retell the story but make changes and confirms this is an alternate universe that isn’t a sequel or tide to the original series. Shirley is alive, CC recovers Lelouch’s body and finally it’s confirmed Lelouch did take Charle’s code and became immortal. He now goes by L.L. and is CC’s husband.

So this series doesn’t hurt R2 since this isn’t a sequel to the original series. But seeing Lelouch’s return after the movie is amazing. Twitter went crazy, having his return post have over 3 million views in one day.

its canon that code geass will use alternate universe thing so we can see L.L from origin universe but he is still dead in origin which mean he cant back to see original nunnaly, so yes he is alive by any mean (he faking his death with actual death)

I haven't seen all of the movies but I think that they're on an alternate timeline and this show is a spin off of those movies. The end of the OG series seemed so definitive. I said "yo Lelouch is alive!" Out loud. Still, maybe the last two movies telegraphed it. I wouldn't know tbh.

this timeline is based on the movies which has many major differences with narrative compared to the series, no amount of brushing up is gonna help you explain it if you base the current story on the series which had the absolute outcome of him dying, this is a sequel to the resurrection movie, he is powerful because he now has his own code after being forcefully resurrected by C.C. and in a sense Lelouch did die so he can become L.L. and work towards a new goal which was teased by the end of the resurrection movie which goes along the lines of creating a society for geass users and taking away geass from people who don't accept it, they gonna start a world for people blessed or cursed with geass, he did promise the future even to C.C., which is why I dont think the world can be the same if the power of geass is in the wrong hands and its their goal that the power of geass is bestowed upon those who have the potential, that includes Sakuya who has the potential to be a bridge between brittania and Japan considering she is half and of royal bloodline similar to Lelouch.

Ima just say it, this show is mid. Feels rushed since it’s 12 episodes. They made it up a little with the fan service but man is the plot confusing. I rate the episode a 6.5-7 other than lelouch showing up the last episode was better.

Technically, lelouch of the resurrection follows the theory that he survived at the end of the story, but it happens in a another timeline which follows the movies not the original anime so this is a different timeline
