All the artificers I've seen played in 5e played the iron man subclass. To be fair, can you blame them?

We had an artificer in our party who figured out that he can make traps that flings people in the air, and had some shirts he looted from some corpses, so we were fighting some ogres and he threw enchanted shirts at them and they went flying back like 50+ ft when they touched them.

Edit: since everyone wants to know how to do this, I asked my friend and he said that he used an artificer spell from 3.5e, but he misinterpreted what it meant, so he basically made up a spell. And don’t ask me which one, because I don’t know.

It's fun because there's an artificer homebrew subclases called Doofenshmirtz.

The artificer in my campaign is determined to be a chaos gremlin. He escaped from bandits by making one of their swords scream and freaking them out and made a carnival worker think he was going crazy by making a hacky sack scream when it hit the ground but turned it off when the worker tried to show someone else. 😂😂

Playing a goblin artificer right now and he's basically an agent of chaos and destruction. He carries around a couple kegs of dynamite with him and has left several craters in the landscape. Frustrates the party wizard because he can't understand how my magic works. "It makes no sense! The goblin just jingles his keys and shit happens! That's not right!" haha

My DM didn't allow this class untill recently, 'cause he didn't understand it. But high elves in our world are basically a race of such guys. Their ancestors started an apocalypse before, they currently have built a manapunk civilization, are in civil war, and... It feels like it may result in another apocalypse.
Edit: it's author's setting, and it's not mine. I do know it's not according to the Forgotten Realms or the Eberron lore. I don't think it was supposed to be.
