The Switch Lite – Nintendo has a new version of the Switch out this fall. A smaller, more portable version of the original console that costs $100 less but loses the ability to actually “switch” between TV and portable modes. Here’s our hands-on.

Talking about the importance of batterylife and "batterylife is good" but not telling us how long it lasts? C'mon..

THANK YOU for actually reviewing the switch lite and not just comparing it to the switch.

If you think about, Nintendo made a portable console portable. 10/10 logic.

My biggest concern is what happens when the left joycon goes bad... cuz I've already been through 4 of them.

It's a small portable device with access to a console library. And quite affordable. I don't plan to buy a normal Switch, but this thing tempts me.

The most amazing thing about the switch lite is actually the fact that something so small.... Can play witcher 3.

I don't have a Switch yet, and I think I'm going to hold off getting one until this Switch Lite comes out..I would be playing mostly in portable mode anyway so I think this is the better bet for me..if I already had a Switch I probably wouldn't buy a Switch Lite but since I don't I'm going to get the Switch Lite when it comes out ☺

Consumers should note you can't "play ALL your favorite games". If the game doesn't support Handheld Mode, the Lite can't simply run it. For example, Mario Party doesn't support it because of several Joy Con features you need access to for the mini games.

Instead, as mentioned you'll have to buy a controller ANYWAY. But controllers don't come with a charger (because the original Switch doubles as a charger). So you'll have to buy that, too. $60 for new Joy Cons. $30 for chargers. So this product then comes to $290 vs. $300 for the new model. And of course you lose out on TV mode and kickstand mode. Aaaand it has less battery life.

Now you can make educated an decision. 🤔

I've already pre-ordered, but whether it ever gets used will hinge on how good nintendos cloud saves implementation is.

I play primarily docked. I love the idea of being able to leave my primary switch at home and keep the lite in my bag, but if it becomes even slightly inconvenient to continue where I left off when I'm out and about, the lite will become little more than a collectors item, not a usable product.

Agreed. This is the modern day GameBoy. Just without the black and white screen that WAS on that handheld. I bought the turquoise one last week and I LOVE Will still use my regular Switch in Tabletop mode because I refuse to play it docked, and will use my Lite for everything else. Also for the people that are curious the turquoise colour you see in videos do NOT give it justice. You need to see it in person. It is
