First woman to win fisherman of the year happy to be 'recognised' in the industry

Ashley Mullenger, the first woman to win fisherman of the year, says she was "quite emotional" when she received the reward.

"Had to fight back a few tears when I was going up to collect the award," she told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.

"But just to be recognised as a woman in the industry and to be nominated, was enough for me, but to actually win it was really something else."

She said it didn't matter to her that she was referred to as a "fisherman" as opposed to a more gender-neutral term.

"It's part of taking 'woke' more than woke, isn't it? It's that fact that I want to identity as a fisherman, so should I actually be allowed to identify as whatever I choose, right?"

Congrats mamm I love your explanation of why you enjoy it so much. It is amazing how we can all enter react with other forms of life, it is almost like a lot of us are like doctor do-little 😂 but we can’t talk English with them but it is more of a conscious connection to each other. Like when you dog knows when your upset, but I do my own construction business and when I go to so many different peoples house who say be careful my dog has bitten a lot of people don’t get close and the dog comes to me like a puppy does just excited waggin thier tale. And they are just dumbfounded on how but I always try to consciously tell the animal I mean no harm to you and I am nice I’ll pet you as long as you don’t bite a chunk out of my ass cheek, lol I am not the bravest I was bitten badly when I was young by 185lb rot willer I know sounds like bullshit but he was a Great Dane size on roids lol but he fucked me up so I am weary about dogs, but also other animals seem to come around when I think 💭 comforting thoughts.
