April 29 /1967
Another promotional film was recorded for the song, this time filmed on 29 April near St Michael's Church in Highgate. It is the only known footage of Barrett lip-synching to the song. It was shot in the spring of 1967, around the time that his mental deterioration began.

Syd had it all. Good looks, great voice, unique writing, performing. Only for a short time but we're still talking about it 50  years later.

Everyone is talking about Syd but I think we can not ignore how innocent and cute Nick Mason looks.

When Syd died, he left a bank account of nearly two million English pounds, mostly from royalties over the years from record releases by Pink Floyd. Ones where he had a part in certain recordings. He didn't spend much, and lived modestly. Gilmour always made sure Syd got his royalties.

The Syd Barrett era is my favourite of any group in history. Fabulous songwriting. Brilliant playing. I always come back to Syd.

Syd Barrett. Genius at lyrics. Genius at song writing. Genius for putting the words "Pink" and "Floyd" together so that nobody ever forgets them, genius for writing "Astronomy Domine" which contains the formula for Metal and the song that kept Floyd on the radio for five years until Dark Side came out; Genius at singing and playing guitar; genius innovator, ; and Genius at looking amazing.

That first "Why can't you see ?" gives me the goose bumps every time. Syd was, and still is, one of the best.

Syd had an incredibly distinctive voice. He was absolutely heroically handsome. He was a true aesthete. The accolades could go on and on, suffice to say he has been and remains an important part of my life ML x

Syd Barrett, one of the most imaginative musicians of the entire sixties period.

Genius lyrics. He tells the story succinctly in rhyming verse..."see-through Baby Blue" it doesn't get better than that, except maybe "doors clang, chain gang" Oh, Syd, you were one of a kind for sure.

I bought my first Pink Floyd album in 68 "Relics" just out of curiosity. I was 16. The album cover and song titles told me to risk 5 bucks, and man was I blown away. This was before anything like this even closely existed. The next album I bought was Meddle, and that was it. I was hooked. I had a pretty kick ass stereo back then, and my friends would come over, we would turn off the lights, and get stoned, and trip out all night listening to Floyd. Man, I miss those days, we had so much fun.

I find it hilarious watching Syd Barrett and Roger Waters messing around in s mock wrestling match while Rick Wright's wanders around! I love Syd's Lead Vocal in that he sounds very British and not trying to sound like an American! That was very innovative! I also love Rick Wright's Farfisa Organ solo. It's so Psychedelic and futuristic sounding. This track sounds like it was released yesterday. It sounds so contemporary! The Pink Floyd was way ahead of its time. This song was banned by the BBC due to its lyrical content. I empathize with Syd Barrett in that music journalists criticized Barrett, at the time, for writing in their opinion, such a "smutty" song. I think it's a fine lyric and great song!!!

From @2:27-2:56, his face is just so photogenic, it's just perfect. The saddest story in music, he would have been a massive star, and it was finished almost as soon as it started for him. Poor man.

One standing still. One continuously walking in circles. The other two fighting to get out. What a genius video.
