American Bandstand. Dick Clark asked some yes-or-no questions to Barrett, who got through the appearance without incident.

The next day, the band was booked on The Pat Boone Show, which didn't go nearly as well. When they recorded their performance, Barrett refused to lip-synch, instead just staring into the cameras when they were rolling. To solve the problem, Roger Waters mimed the song in his place. The tour was cut short after Barrett de-tuned his guitar and just made random sounds with it during a concert at the Fillmore West. He was replaced for live shows by David Gilmour soon after.

syd was truly the original creative genius of the pink floyd sound. honestly heartbreaking to see how gone his eyes are here, he was one of the greatest minds of progressive rock. a true artist who did it for the ART. rest in peace crazy diamond

"When staying with Lynsey [Korner] ... [Syd] would spend much of his time simply wandering the streets window shopping and meandering along the banks of the Thames. One day, he noticed an attractive young woman doing her window shopping and decided to follow her.
He trailed her for hours, finally ending up at the duck pond a short bus ride away on Barned Common.
Syd's recollection of this afternoon's light stalking became 'Apples And Oranges'"...

I could absolutely tell that the rest of Pink Floyd were completely nervous during this performance because of Syd's unpredictable behaviours and erratic tendencies. When Clark starts asking them questions, everyone else (especially Roger) becomes even more nervous in case Syd refuses to talk.
