It's wild that the thing Chad was most upset about in this trial was when Blake got the details about how death percentages work wrong in his eyes. No shaking his head about the heinous details of the crime, only when he felt Blake misrepresented his ideology.

The first thing I thought when Prior said Chad didn't hire a defense attorney was Chad sitting in the car telling Emma to call John Prior.

The Library of Congress comparison was laughable. Annie Cushing broke that down and showed that the Library of Congress has 3500 times more information than was collected in this case. Also, Pryor argued extensively that it was a PAINT BALL GUN that was used in the driveway incident. Then Pryor argues in closing that Alex was there to take out CHAD not Tammy. Was Alex going to do away with Chad with a paint ball gun???

If Chad was as shocked as anybody that the children were found in his backyard, why wasn't he in his backyard observing the police and then expressing shock when the children were found there? Instead he was hiding out in front, moping to his jailed goddess lover about the fact that they were searching, and then attempting to run. And when he was apprehended, he wasn't expressing shock to Emma about the children being found there; there was no discussion of surprise or shock, there was no question from Emma like "Father, why are you being arrested?" Nope. They seem to be quite certain about what was going on and why. And his statement "I'm not coming back" and again his daughter not questioning WHY should be huge giveaways to his guilt. Additionally, that conversation and (in my opinion and I'm sure many others') the perjury from Emma and Garth on the stand should make law enforcement wonder if his children were accomplices after the fact or whatever, if they had knowledge of their father's involvement. I'm guessing he gave them some crazy story (I have a theory, and it shows in their obvious dislike for law enforcement in their testimony).

There may not be a "formal agreement", but there was a "Mission"!

Cult leaders do not need/require agreement. They expect/demand obedience. Chad was the leader.
He was excited to be gathering and building his exclusive group.

I think yelling at the jury prior- well you lost them. He never thanked them for their dedication or attention, no instead he was nasty to them! Talking down to them. Those poor jurors!!!

I agree with you that the first part of Prior’s argument was effective. He should have stopped an hour in. Also, I wish more people realized that saying, “The defense attorney was good at XYZ” doesn’t mean you think the defendant is innocent and want him to get off.

“ Doing what I am doing is a lost art “ ~ John Prior. No John, bullshitting is alive and healthy.

They did agree to hurt people. Turning down their pain resistance and turning up the pain.

Confused that so many think Prior did good. I don’t believe he even believes what he’s saying. He’s asking the jury to dismiss common sense.

Peter - I so appreciate your commentary on this case!! I began following you because you were one of the few covering this case around 3 years ago!! And I agree with you, I'd have also found Chad Guilty on all counts!!

I could listen to Lindsey talk about this all day.
I was over Prior after 20 mins.
As a layperson (non-lawyer or in the legal field) it’s difficult to get beyond his affect and the way he presents to absorb his “good points”. That’s my truth.
My misconstrued text messages and emails never lead to dead children buried in my backyard… 🤔

_Voir dire_ isn't a French "word" Mr. Prior, it's a _phrase_ and legal term of art. Also Prior claimed he couldn't pronounce it while pronouncing it _exactly_ as it's pronounced in every American court which for a change (compare crazy latin _nolle prosequi_ pronunciation versions) is substantially the same as the actual French pronunciation of "voir dire" anyway.
