Sharing my latest additions to my filter kit! Nothing better than doing lens tests and filter tests in pre-production and figuring out the overall look of your movie without relying on "fix it in post"!

These are some of my favorite camera lens filters made by Tiffen, Schneider, H&H, and Firecrest! And of course my favorite go-to matte box from Wooden Camera!

Note that all of these filters' strength & look will vary widely depending on what focal length lens you're using them with. The 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2 etc. system was actually developed so cinematographers could have a consistent look across different focal lengths! If you image search the confetti filter, you'll also see how it can look wildly different on a wide-angle lens as opposed to a tele lens. By the looks of this test, I'd guess you were using it with an 80-100mm.

THANKS Justin for the Video, it really helps to see some of your Filming process.

I have a fotga swing away matte box - swing away is definitely the way to go as a cinematographer. I wish mine had 3 slots and the ability to angle them though

I’m definitely not a hater. Keep doing your thing bro. People hate people who can’t be bought. It is what it is.

This current test shot of the mannequin shows that you've come a huge way since your early videos! It's head and shoulders (pun intended!) above the old stuff.

I've been wanting to try the True Streak 4mm filter on my Isco Ultra Star anamorphic. It has no flares but is a great looking lens. The True Streak might just do the job.

Super interesting! I want to try out that confetti filter, just for fun. Do you have an opinion on the use of Polarization filters? Is it important for adding contrast in general, or is it more like something you use only in special circumstances, like shooting through glass?

Thanks Justin. Which Digital Diffusion FX strength do you suggest for standard use. I believe you have the 1/2 there? I like the subtle looks of black pro-mist 1/8 so something comparable would be nice.

All i got is a Tiffen variable nd and a cheap ir cut filter
Might get a Tiffen pro mist soon

Love your passion and the fact you’re giving it a red hot go. Just some constructive comments, I think the lighting for your talking to camera shots was much better in your previous videos.
