The End of Bangladesh Economic Miracle

In February 2021, Bangladesh hit a significant milestone, meeting all three criteria for graduating from a least developed country (LDC) to a developing country – an achievement it replicated since 2018. The United Nations is looking at 2026 as Bangladesh's graduation year, patting the nation on the back for its journey since gaining independence in 1971. Despite contending with natural disasters, tough conditions, and widespread corruption, Bangladesh has become a poster child for economic and social progress, earning labels like "Development Miracle" or "Development Labyrinth." It's not just a burgeoning developing market economy; the country has achieved self-sufficiency in food production for its 171 million people, with substantial strides in reducing poverty and elevating living standards.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent Russia’s war in Ukraine have interrupted Bangladesh’s economic miracle. Soaring energy and food prices pulled a prank, blowing up the import bill and forcing the government to go knocking on doors, including the International Monetary Fund's, asking for some financial TLC. In this video, we’ll be talking about the factors leading up to the end of Bangladesh’s economic miracle.

Sir, unless the country has a solid economic base and substantial international trade connections which are permanent and reliable in nature and scope, only then will it have sustainable development plans and programmes; otherwise, it will always be dodgy and reeling on foreign mercy and support.

Why is Bangladesh's economy not benefiting more from the fast Indian cyclical upturn (see India's manufacturing the services indexes near record highs in March) and US moderate economic growth?

Border security should be tightened further in India. Individuals deemed undesirable should be prevented from entering our country. India should systematically dismantle Bangladesh's garment industry and allocate resources to support Muslim extremists with money, encouraging them to establish more madrasas instead of modern schools in Bangladesh. This approach would likely lead to increased radicalization and internal conflict within their country. Politically, efforts should be made to influence them into idolizing Pakistan.
