Streaming is too saturated and too competitive these days, there were over 8.5 million Streamers just last month, on average there were 100,000 channels live at any point just on Twitch. If you're trying to learn how to grow on Twitch, then this video is for you.

The truth is that all 8.5 million of these channels are split into just two categories, the people who are ACTUALLY trying to grow and the people who are making these 3 Mistakes that Small Streamers are still making, in today’s video.

How To Grow On Twitch?

If you want to grow your Twitch stream, it is important to be critical. Being critical isn’t a bad thing, people say, “Oh don’t be so critical of yourself!”.

But there are a lot of things you can control and improve, such as your visuals, audio, and most importantly your content that you’re creating. Watch back your VoD and be honest with yourself, is it up to scratch. Does your mic sound good? Are you engaging? Is it easy to watch and enjoy or is there something that is off-putting? Be honest, push yourself to grow, and become a better entertainer!

Because at the end of the day, the only way you are going to grow your stream is by growing yourself and being critical in a positive way.

What Bitrate And Settings Should I Use For Streaming?

The easiest way to understand bitrate is by calling what it actually is, your upload speed to the Twitch servers.

Now you’ll need a higher bitrate depending on how high quality you want your stream to be, this means 1080p 60 frames per second will need a bitrate of 6000, which roughly equals 6megabits upload speed on your end being taken up

By lowering your resolution and framerate, you can make it a lot easier to stream, for example, if you set your base canvas size to 1920x1080, but change your output to 1280x720 otherwise known as 720p you drop down to only needing a bitrate of 4500 or 4.5megabits.

If you still want 1080, you can even just lower your framerate from 60fps to 30fps and then adjust to 4500bitrate.

The style of this video is similar to Alpha Gaming and Gaming Careers in parts. A large influence on this series has come from content creators like Wild4games and Nutty.

As a small streamer myself, I honestly agree with everything your saying. I have 70 followers currently on twitch and anytime I stream I usually have maybe 1-3 viewers if I'm lucky and sometimes I may peak to maybe 5, but I quickly go back down to 1. Ngl having the low viewership is discouraging for me, but I don't wanna let that stop me from doing something that enjoy which playing video games and showing off my skills. So definitely take everything you say into consideration. I've actually been thinking about trying to use youtube as a way to help with my growth, but I'm just not good with editing, but I definitely wanna try. Thank you for your wisdom and great advice.

Ngl I did most of this without even being told to and it works. Went from 0 to 7-8 average viewers in only a week, still growing. You HAVE TO be able to talk to yourself. You HAVE TO

Eljay, I've been meaning to tell you this for a good while now... Thank you. Thank you for the mountain of incredible information you've provided for myself and everyone looking to dive into streaming. Just two months ago I began my streaming journey with nothing more than a wild idea that maybe I could someday have a community of my own. With your help I've been able to grow at an insane pace and I already have a humble community that I love to interact with. When I started I didn't even know what OBS was, but with your help I was able to grow smart and dive in with a splash. So thank you for being such a great mentor for all of us.

Much appreciated! I've had ideas to be more interesting for a while, but was consistently getting stuck in the mindset of "It won't be worth it, I'll just mess it up" but you've put forward a great point! So what's the harm in trying!

It definitely wasn't harsh, these are comments people do need to hear.
I've had to take a break from streaming due to work and life.
However I'm planning to return in June and I am already planning stuff out, so I can be more discoverable.
I tried growing as a variety streamer and it didn't work and I've learned that the hard way. Because all I was burn my self out.

Great stuff as always! Love the idea of using your title as a summary for the stream, but also a self-pitch to see if your stream idea is good to you. Cause if you wouldn't click your own stream, why would you expect someone else to?

I've been really losing the drive to create content and keep a regular schedule on my stream. Hearing the things you had to say here was kind of the swift kick I needed to get my head straight and dive back into it. Keep doing what you're doing! It's honestly helping so many get the most out of their time striving to become discovered! Thank you.

I have been watching a lot of your vids recently, even using one of your amazing overlays, thanks again. Yet the videos also told me I needed to do something but being a bit harder for me being mute. I started to use a TTS (Text to speech) program and really hope that might help to get in touch with my chat :3

Another awesome video. Thanks, Eljay! I just started 2 months ago and been steadily growing thanks to your tips. I've noticed a recurring tip/theme to your videos and it's *consistency*. It's kind of disheartening to not see views grow or followers but I'm going to keep trying to make good content and try to do better the next time.

I actually really appreciate this. We all need that wake up call. I’m just starting out, have a couple YouTube videos and streamed a couple times. I still have to learn the in’s and out’s of everything, but every little bit of information is incredibly helpful. I actually just streamed earlier today and I’m gonna cut it down to bits and post it everywhere. Gotta start somewhere, right?

Great advice! I am at the beginning of changing my mindset to treat my streams like recording sessions for videos and shorts, and also to plan some challenge/event based streams that can translate to YouTube well! e.g. If I can't do X then I have to do Y. Keep the videos coming in the mean time!

Great video!
What attracts me to a streamer: Family-friendly content, relaxing environment and/or gameplay (one guy I follow makes donuts in his bakery at night!), and the streamer's willingness to engage with their viewers. That's what I put into my own because that's what keeps me coming back to theirs.

Wasn't entirely sure about how this would pan out, but honestly you made a lot of excellent points and I absolutely plan on taking these ideas with me into my creations in the following months.

Thanks so much for the tips dude, keep up the awesome work!~✨💕🌸

Thank you so much for making this video after watching I realized that I really was making low quality content and all of these tips make a lot of sense! I also thank you for not trying to sugar coat it because I do often find my self trying to rationalize why I am not doing some of the things you mentioned! Your videos are a huge help!

Well said! I streamed one of my videos, with the mindset that I would later take it and make a video out of it. It was a 15 hour stream in total, and I averaged 1 viewer (which was my friend). I took that video, edited it down to a digestible 10 minute video and now it sits at around 400k viewers. I don't even stream on twitch anymore, I switched to YouTube pretty quickly lol.

I just want to say thank you for taking time out of your daily life to upload a video like this to help us Small Time streamers out and I promise you you're not going to hear no complaining for me I really appreciate the advice that you're giving and I like that you are speaking the truth even if it is a little harsh and people do need to hear that at times and I'm going to take what you have suggested and incorporate that into my streams so I just wanted to say thank you and I'm the type of person that always pushes to do better and take criticism even if it is a little harsh because again you got to hear that so thank you and I hope you're having a great day
