This is exactly what I needed. I've been studying church history on my own but its been very daunting and disjointed. Now I see the flow of it all. Thank you!

This is a presentation of Western church history from a reformed Protestant point of view. He leaves out a huge amount of history.

in the pre-reformation era there was no jezuit order and Loyola lived from 1491 to 1556. So he was 26 years old when Luther nailed his thesis on the church door in Wittenberg. Loyola studied from 1526 in Spain.
Renaissance started before 1470 in Italy

Eight minutes in and I am thinking....
Wow, this sounds like where our world is heading now, , ,, right before Jesus comes back.

I don’t think the point about Diocletian era destruction of pastor, church and Bible is correct. Before the Catholic Church, there was no Bible, no pastor (they were called priests at first), no ‘church’ building to destroy. They knew they were the spiritual church and not a physical place. Of course, a pastor would weave himself into history. 🤔

Constantine established a Sunday Law too, , and history teach that the Church was still observing the 7th Day Sabbath, but then came alone the catholic church and adopted the Sunday as day of worship, ( The little horn in Daniel 7 stood now when the dragon( Pagan Rome or satan) gave them the throne and great authority. History is good, .

Im glad you mentioned Dioclessian and the 10 years in prison because you find it in Revelation 2:10, , as you can see, you find the interpretation of the Revelation scriptures in History. Same as the book of Daniel.

This guy has never experienced persecution. If your country is persecuting Christians, it is perfectly sensible to keep the church gathering limited to believers and to not trust random people trying to join.

Propaganda. I’d give it a D+ at best. Extreme prejudice against Catholicism warping many of his historical judgments (most of which sound secondhand). “Byzantine” refers to the Eastern Roman Christian Empire seated in Constantinople from the 4th to the 15th c.. Pope Gregory was hardly the first bishop of Rome to recognize his own universal jurisdiction. The pre-500 Church was very Catholic. Ignatius Loyola (Jesuits founder) was a 16th c. figure, not pre-500! Patrick was from the 5th c., not the medieval period. The term “Dark Ages” was a deliberate disparaging of the Middle Ages invented by scholars of the Renaissance and is no longer used or credited by serious historians. The crusades were far from mere mobs. Wycliffe did not want laymen reading the Bible in English. Scholasticism was a thoroughly medieval and Catholic affair rejected by the leading early Protestant Reformers. Group baptisms did not occur. Etc etc. This is just a terrible way of telling history aimed at using distorted history to score ideological points. This man hardly knows what he’s talking about and should not be taken seriously.

Terrible inaccurate misinformation in this video

I disagree when he said we are not supposed to make people feel comfortable, & we have gone overboard, when we should convict conscience. No, this is a human perception. God’s word is true. Do not extrapolate, overgeneralize, & misinterpret. Qualify your opinion, & perceptions. Do not mislead & infer God is anything other than love.

As a student with a lot of interest in the early church and familiarity with lots of second and third century texts, about fourteen minutes in I concluded this as deeply disappointing - shockingly little use of sources and quotes, and several claims that without quotes sound like mischaracterisations. Here is a man with a passing awareness of the subject, but very little obvious passion about its material, or else a lack of conscious awareness of its primary sources.

Very interesting! I would, however, question your assessment of the crusades having been an unprovoked infiltration of sorts into Arab lands. There were many crusades and some were in direct response to Islamic advancement and murder of Christians traveling to the Holy Land and elsewhere.
