I'm also doing a snake for my final project, and you have no idea how much this is saving me. You are actually saving my grade and my sanity, because I have been hand placing the scales on(and there are some I will need to do this with even with mash) and it has been killing me in every way but physical.

maya crashes every time i apply the curve warp to the repo mesh

Single flake was enough for base mesh.
