I love this! Mace would've understood the emotions boiling underneath and found a way for Anakin to deal with them, as opposed to Kenobi who seemed to simply tell him to be mindful and then hoped that Anakin would mature & take his advice.
I agree the bond btwn Mace & Anakin would've been there, and that would've extended to trust. Anakin trusted Kenobi, but not enough to be completely honest about his fear & anger. Mace would've understood those emotions, and extend the lessons needed to overcome them.

Mace was the perfect Jedi Master for Anakin. Like Anakin, Mace also had strong darkness within himself. Through discipline and pure talent Master Windu developed techniques that he used to channel that darkness as a tool instead of being consumed by it. Mace would have taught those techniques to Anakin and helped him to face his greatest weakness, FEAR. They would have been the most powerful Master and Apprentice on the Order and would have destroyed Amy Sith in my opinion.

Mace Windu and most of the council didn't even want to take anakin in as a padawan. He was too old. Only when insistant Qui Gon said he would personally train the boy did they relent and even in the movie you can see that they really would have rather not.
