I’ve always thought Yoda was the best Master for Anakin behind Qui-Gon. To me Anakin just wasn’t meant for the prequel era Jedi or just the extremely orthodox ones like Windu.

If Mace was his master, Anakin would have joined the dark side. But with Mace's power and understanding of the dark side and what Anakin is going through, he would have been able to save Anakin a lot sooner than Luke did. Anakin would have been the second Jedi to carry a purple lightsaber. The two bring balance to the Force. The end.

Between being taught vaapad harnessing the Darkside without giving in to it and having the proper discipline that he never got under obi won i think his character would be much different than the original time line or this time line.

Can you imagine Anakin with an unholy mix of his own Djem-so mixed with a Juyo/Vaapad? Thats a scary mix.

For me, there were always only 2 ideal masters for Anakin: Windu (because the Jedi felt his inner darkness right from the start, some even calling him dangerous, so WIndu could have helped him to deal with his darkness) or Mundi (as Mundi officially had attachments which would have helped Anakin to deal with his own). I would really be interested in a fan fic about Mundi being Anakin's master (for more than just a short period of time in the Clone Wars).

If Mace Trained Anakin, they'd be closer. Anakin would make Mace a bit less rigid. They'd both grow. Mace or Plo would be great teachers for Anakin.
