I know how to set the hook, but I'm pretty novice with my bait caster. Every time I land a fish my braid buries itself in the spool. What's the trick to avoiding this? Should I rest my thumb on top of the spool before I set?

If the rod is at 2 or 3 o clock how do you swing it to the right and it's at 12 ? Isnt it supposed to be from 2 or 3 to 5 not 12

Hook set description is confusing to me. Sweeping motion from 2/3 o"clock to 12 o'clock seems like you are sweeping more towards 6 o'clock than 12.

Very helpful. How hard do you sweep to set the hook? At what point are you hurting the fishing? I've heard people say "bending tips & ripping lips" Seems like overkill.
