We will be releasing new videos every Monday for Midwife Monday, so make sure that you click the subscribe button!

Have you ever wondered what a contraction feels like? Or, if you're anything like me, have you ever wondered how you will know which one of your comfort measures techniques will ACTUALLY work for you in labor? Today's Midwife Monday Video is a great contraction practice experiment that I've successfully used in childbirth education classes for years. Together, we will walk through two 60-second contractions using an ice cube so both Mamas and Daddies can prepare for what labor might be like on the big day! Using this ice cube technique for contractions, you can practice your labor techniques at home in preparation for your upcoming birth!

The ice cube thing is also great to practice hypnobirthing. Hold the ice and focus on the pain for 1:30 then do it again for 2 minutes but listen to a story that takes you somewhere like to a beach feeling the warm water, the sand under your feet and so on and before you know it, the 2 minutes is over and you haven’t noticed the pain. However, I took a bag of ice and put it on my lower back where I get period and labor pain and it worked.

I tried this. The way I tolerate pain is thinking it Will be over soon & staying quiet waiting for it to go away 😂 I hope this helps me in actual labor

This is a great activity! Think I'll incorporate it into my CBE classes! I'm also a doula. Love your videos BTW. You explain things the way I would and how I would want them explained to me!

Huh. Gonna try this. With my births I am very quiet and being the pain into myself. My midwife and husband constantly check on me and ask how I’m doing because I’m so quiet.

Another GREAT and informative video! TY again for future insight & knowledge!!! Can ANYONE answer this question for me? I have been having heart palpitations frequently for a cpl of months now. They happen so randomly. IK it cld be a wide range of things but is there anything i need to be concerned abt? I am aware that I shld tell me provider but I also want to act cautiously bc I am having a natural home birth in a cpl months, I dnt want to alarm my dr's office bc they may deem me "high risk" and then i wont be able to have a natural home birth at HOME. H.O.M.E. is thee ultimate goal! Anyone experience what Im talking abt!?? Thanks & God Bless!!!
