How to fix those annoying "white" spots on old, bent or damage plastic parts. Restore those plastic fenders on your motorcycle or ATV.

I demonstrated this technique on a restoration of a plastic pedal fire truck, this technique can be used on just about any type of colored plastic to repair it like new!

Thank you for this video. My son gave me his vintage toy and I accidentally a pressure spot crease on the side of it after I making adjustments to the car. I grabbed my yellow bird hairdryer and put on high heat and fixed my kid's Jurrasic park toy truck from from the early 90s. It worked after about 30 seconds of heat applied white pressure point it totally gone vanished.

I have used this method with a narrow nozzle in a hot air rework station. I dial the temperature back to 100°C (lowest setting) and wave the nozzle over the white area until it begins to lose the whiteness and return to its underlying colour.

I believe that the white marks are caused by dynamic stresses in the plastic and by heating the area to just below elastic temperature, the stresses are able to relax and line up the polymer long chain molecules.

Elastic temperature is probably the wrong term, it might be the plastic temperature. Anyway, it’s the temperature at which a material can be returned or reformed to a previous state without the current shape being altered.

Understanding elasticity and plasticity is necessary to get good results.

Some plastics (polymers) will shrink when heat is applied, others buckle.

This work requires a level of patience to get right.
