MITSUBISHI TRITON 2024 REVIEW - MAJOR change could spell disaster... Towing & Off-road Megatest

For many years you could almost say the Triton has been the underdog of the dual cab world & one of the good things about them is they come with a cheaper price tag compared to many of the other utes on the market.

It was always GREAT value for money, BUT the price has gone up on the newer models and we want to know - is the new rig worth the price increase?

So, Jesse’s going to put the NEW Triton to the test against the old tried & true to see! Let’s see how both rigs handle with sand driving, 4wding, & towing comparison test 🔥

before all the hilux cult get in, we have 9 tritons at work, the first of the 2.4 one has a aussie quick spray unit mounted on it, it weighs 3.089t full, that truck works on many mine sites and has now done 230k, only had one rear wheel bearing just recently, standard front suspension, hd rear springs. now the kun hilux that had a lighter unit it replaced didnt even make it to 100k without needing (its a long list), 3 front diffs, 1 hd clutch, so many rear wheel bearings i lost count, steering rack, 4 front wheel bearings, injectors, rear diff, multiple ujs, cvs, front shocks and im sure im missing things. same drivers but we take the triton worse places offroad because it loves it. we do allot less repairs on the tritons than the hiluxs they replaced ( i know because i fix them). and if ya thinking we should get rangers, we dont own a transport trailer to get them off the side of the road.

My MQ has taken me to so many places. Never had an issue. Stock suspension with EFS shocks, long range tank and a tune from Berrima Diesel. An amazing car.

I have had 4 Tritons.. all single cabs and all NEVER EVER gave me any issues. All were workhorses and covered many Klns. All manufacturers have issues, Ford, Toyota, Nissan... I currently own a Nussan Navara... So far going well 👍

My first 4x4 was a turbo diesel MJ triton from the 90s. I paid $3500 for it, had nearly on the clock but went like an animal, had almost no flex, but due to its light weight and broad torque band could outclimb Toyotas from the same era (even with diff locks)
That car had beautifully matched gear ratios and a perfectly matched turbo, and punched well above its weight.

The moment you said the MR bends chassis and bad vibration you lost me
Never seen a mr bend and the vibration is really minor
Only happens with a lift and only happens for a second when you take off

Have an mq diesel with 320000kms from new, took it 4wding, bogged it numerous times (changed 1x alternator), dented every panel and its still going in my company till now. Have the MR now only because i couldnt kill the MQ (smelt terrible but), and believe me i tried to the point i was happy to leave it in the bush. Ive got alot of respect for MQ and MRs and now my fleet has over 22 tritons 😂😂

No different to other dual cabs with the bending chassis - plenty of other brands did the same

I would 💯 take the new Triton over the Ford or the Dmax

We've had AdBlue/DEF for about 5-10 years in Europe (about 15-20 years in >7.5t)and it generally causes less issues than DPF. We even have GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter) now with Euro 6d!

All of the current utes are great, all they need from factory is a decent set of tyres to go 95% of places! AT/MT your choice. No lift needed.

I would love to see a lot more from Colin. He is great on camera and he knows what he is talking about. Perfect for the 4WD-24/7 team
