General question re Sales Tax on a Copart Salvage Car... I know from previous experience buying from other local dealers (who also buy from Coparts) the local place does NOT charge me a State Sales Tax... I just incur that when I go convert that Salvage Title in A Rebuilt/Reconstructed Title...

So bottom line, if I were to buy a salvage car through Copart either on my own (if poss) or if by going through a broker, I will also incur the Sales Tax on Copart Salvage Car??? And then another Local State Sales Tax at the end upon trying to get the Rebuilt Title (i.e. Double Dip on Taxes???)

Question, do licensed buyers, like business licensed, pay less, or are the transaction fees the same? Like a 1k purchase you get charged like around $300 per say, do dealers pay the same fee?

Good stuff man. But one thing you didn't mentioned was the fee to transport the vehicle back to you or the simple cost it would cost someone to get it to and from auction.

Awsome tips: Thank you bro!
Question: Copart shows car under Certificate of Title without Salvage at the end, it is considered as clean title ?

I was just registering and copart is asking for affidavit document from me to finish my registration. Why is nobody mansions this document? What should I do?

Upgrading to premier how much does it cost? And how much buying power do you get with premier?

Hi, can I bid a car that is located in other state? I’m in Virginia and here is necessary to have a license to bid but I want to get a car that is located in North Carolina and license are not required there, I just don’t want to pay for a broker.
Thanks

What about people outside US. I am in Nigeria but also interested but can't go past the registration stage and how do I make payment and also how is the auction charges calculated on copart if I win a car of $2k how would it be calculated to get to the total sum

Hey MC! Thanks for the heads up bro! Listen, I am about to get into the business of used car sales here.. So, i'm just trying to learn everything possible regarding membership at Copart. If i understood you correctly, it looks like even if you're a PREMIER member, you still have to pay all of those Copart FEES!!! Is that right sir? Like, that doesn't come with your benefit?

I own an autobody business in PA but I plan on just but I just plan on buying one car on Copart, will save money by uploading business docs so I can bid without using a broker? If it's not that much I am saving I rather just use a broker since it's less hassle given it's a one-time deal???... please advise thx! Fyi, My budget is around $5k for bid...

If I were to provide my business info to set up account that is eligible to bid, what docs are required (i.e. SS4 or City Business License?)

hello friend! Are you sure that if I buy in another state that does not need a license, I will need a broker? why? thanks

Thanks for all the great info. I believe I understand all the fees now. If I plan on buying a vehicle (not thru broker) for $6k and paying secured. Then it's fee)= $7465... My only confusion is if I'm able to buy a salvage title vehicle that is for sale in Texas and I live in Florida. Would you happen to know the answer? Thanks, Evan

I'm so mad. I signed up for Copart a couple months ago as a business member. Now low volume business members pay the same rates as consumers in table C & D. So Fees on say a 10 grand car just went from 6% to 15%. And fees on a 15K+ car went from 4% to 15%. It is now literally cheaper to use a broker than it is to go direct, unless you buy at least 12 cars a year, then you get the volume fees. This is so scummy of them to do!
It makes it so without a broker there is no way I'm going to be able to compete with a high volume business buyer because they could have a 1-2K price advantage over me. Filth!

So if the vehicle is in my state, I don’t need a broker?

Do you have to pay the $400 to use the broker? Because then that would factor in as basically another fee
