How can you tell if your red eared slider is happy?

My adorable female red-eared slider must be very happy. She splashes so much when she sees me, eats her food in the blink of an eye, basks often, and doesn’t kick when I pick her up. I’ve only had her for two months and we’re very close.

I should let our turtle out of the tank more. I just worry about salmonella because I have little kids. But she is a happy turtle and I just got her a 125 gallon tank! ❤

My red eared slider Shelly is pretty shy and doesn’t constantly want food but my painted turtle Mitchell always wants food

My Harry is 41 years old and is always happy. His favorites are shrimp, watermelon, spinach and crickets. He sprints like Jesse Owens when I open a bag of Cheetos. He only gets a small bite ... then paws at me begging for more.

Basking:yes but not the other one that much
Hunting:we dont have anything to hunt
Being comfortable with handling:no cus it tries to escape and scratches my hand
Being out:Yeah it loves to explore much

mine turned 5 yrs old this year 😊she is s cute... she will cooperate by stayign in my hand and even not bite my finger anymore. she is well trained now...

Our older one doesn't move around much. I need to make a large double decker platform for it so it doesn't have to be in the water all the time
