The Cthulhu Mythos Timeline | Main Events & Timeline Of Cthulhu Explained

According to the Eltdown Shards, a Yekubian cube lands on a planet near the Milky Way Galaxy's rim about 2 trillion years ago. This may seem wrong since the universe is created in the Big Bang, around 13.8 billion years ago. According to some, Azathoth may be responsible for this.
The Cthulhu mythos is a combination of many books written by many different authors aside from the great H.P Lovecraft himself. As by his wishes, he left the Cthulhu universe as an open book for competent writers to fill in the gaps and expand the franchise. This timeline is based on canonical books, like the timeline of the Cthulhu mythos, the challenge from beyond by Moore, where Yidhra walks by De Bill just to name a few. In this video, we shall only showcase the most important events in the timeline, especially the ones that date back millions or billions of years ago and which also is proposed to extent millions and billions of years in the future. Modern human interaction or birthdates are omitted as it will be too confusing taking into account the variety of books and works by many authors.

Lovecraft was supposedly purposely vague, to leave plenty of room to pass the torch to other creators to expand the lore later on.
He also wasn't above doing collaborations with other creators of his time. Lovecraft's universe is thus also the same one the various Conan The Barbarian franchises take place in. As he and Robert Howard were friends.


Most people who read Conan never make this connection, and fewer still know. Despite that it's entirely the reason Conan often fights snake people and cults that worship them.
Conan directly took part in the human war for supremacy over the snake men. It's the same in all the various comic books, especially the Marvel Comics run. Conan's story takes place in the Hyborian Age, prior to the great flood.

I never really thought that a timeline could be made for the Cthulhu mythos, though h.p. lovecraft is my favorite author of horror, I must say he wasn't all that consistent with a timeline of events. Now sure he had references and nods to previous works like writing about Miskatonic University and of Arkham. But when it came to a continuous timeline that's where lovecraft was lacking.

I don't think the lovecraft universe solely exists in Azathoths dreams, however I do think his dreams brought the universe into existence. I think that the universe can exist independently of Azathoth, but when/if he wakes up, it will cause another big bang, which will destroy the old universe. When/if Azathoth goes to sleep again, it will make another universe.
