Показать описание
Join Dr. Simon Ducharme, a neuropsychiatrist, researcher, and expert specializing in FTD, as he presents on the treatment of behavioral variant FTD (bvFTD). This webinar is designed specifically for primary care physicians, neurologists, psychiatrists, geriatricians and other clinical specialists.
In this webinar, Dr. Ducharme discusses treatment considerations for bvFTD symptoms as well as non-pharmacological approaches for disease management. This includes an overview of pharmacological treatments for common behavioral symptoms such as apathy, agitation, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive behaviors, as well as the lack of evidence for approved Alzheimer’s treatments in FTD.
He also highlights the importance of education of family members about best practices for communication and environmental adaptations to respond to behavioral challenges. The program closes with a review of current research related to symptomatic bvFTD treatment.
Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:
- List two treatments that can be effective with bvFTD symptoms.
- Recognize the potential adverse reactions to psychotropic medications in FTD.
- Describe the value of non-pharmacological interventions for a person with bvFTD and their family caregivers.
