i had always imagined this quote being in s5 when jon is severely, ,, depressed and coming to grips with his antichrist status

but holy shit there's something so sweet but also so heartbreaking about s1-s2 martin being so earnest about just caring for jon, even if it's unrequited at that point (and about to get so much worse)
