I'd be like the 3rd or 4th group sent to mars. Fuck being first.

Why do they always forget the present current radiation levels at Mars surface?

We need to learn out to stop fighting amoungst ourselves and wasting resources on that before we can properly focus on massive, resource heavy projects like Mars

I still remember how clean and clear and not earrapey the audio was. Wtf did you do to it?

Colonizing Mars will be the next "giant step" for humanity....

The "ice" is supposedly dry ice which i think is mostly C02. It also has an extremely patchy magnetic field which moves so you'd probably be stuck in a small bubble shelter most of your time there. I think the soil is also razor sharp on a microscopic level similar too soil on the moon which would be terrible for space suits long term. The moon is much more realistic and I think its half the diamiter of Mars and likely has more resources anyway.

We will never go because we need billion dollars sixth generation Fighters and super duper duper carriers.

How about colonizing the inhospitable places on Earth first?

Soon as I heard those annoying popping noises, and unnecessary music, I thought, no. Make them louder next time, prove my point.

Imagine we sent bots up there to build a station for us, get up there and the bastards have built a waterless 5 star pool resort for themselves😂

Solar radiation would stop that. You cant live there without ozone and an electromagnetic field.

Funny....
Dr. Cox and Dr. Tyson should have a little discussion about terraforming Mars...

I'd be concerned about the greatly reduced gravity affecting the human body.

I'm a scientist. But don't you need an ozone to keep the atmosphere?

Wouldn't the water on mars be radioactive?

Maybe earth was just too right so we did not feel the desperation or have information to move forward?

Not criticizing, genuinely asking; why does he look at the camera when he answers?

The problem is the gravity difference and once there, humans will stop being Earth humans and be something else bc they can't come back. Artificial gravity is a non thing.

Only reason we would ever go to mars is the same reason we go anywhere... if there is some sort of resource we can monopolise.

I bet if it were discovered that under Mars' crust was an ocean of pure crude oil we would have drills and rigs out there right now with the infrastructure in place to transport it back to Earth.

Or any other element that will make someone rich beyond their dreams.

Thats all anything boils down to these days, thats why we havent colonised mars, its nothing to do with anything other than there is no financial gain to do so.

Please keep in mind. If we have those advancements to make Mars livable, than, we have the advancements to reverse the damage on Earth and give Mother Nature new life.
