I got to make a short film in Ohio last year and it was so incredible to be able to create art in a place I missed so much. I moved from Michigan (which has some very badass seasonal changes) to Ireland. I miss home all the time, and every time I visit it feels less and less like home. I'm absent from all my old friends' lives, just because it's hard to keep in touch with the time difference and me working my ass off to make ends meet. I love my partner and our cats and the life we've built here, but I miss my fucking family and the people I grew up with. This song hits that specific spot and it makes me feel less alone. Moving far from home sounds so good when its a dream in your head, but it's actually hard af when you really do it. Thank you Chappell for seeing me and writing a song about these feelings.
