Sir, welcome and heartiest regards. Anna is a blessing in disguise for sub temperate subtropical regions, where there is no other crop of assured economic return except lichi, which hold a great promise in such regions, but it has no shelf life and highly perishable. I am in some confusion taking the rootstock which will be suitable for it. Can we use the seeds of commercial cultivars to raise seedlings or only crable apple but I don't think crab apple can thrive convincingly in subtropical conditions. Kindly guide suitably. Efforts are being made to breed or develop varieties for mild winters in subtropical regions to extend area of its cultivation provided the same may not be troublesome due to obvious constraints in such geographical regions as compared to their cousins in temperate and snowfall regions as is Shimla and Kinnaur districts of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir in India besides some other high altitudes regions in India
