The Best Affordable Commuter Ebike For Peaceful Comfortable Rides - Velotric Discover 1 PLUS Review

The Velotric Discover 1 Plus is the new and improved version of the original Discover 1. This is an affordable commuter style electric bike that weighs in at a practical and approachable 61 lbs. This is the kind of ebike that you'll be able to actually pedal and help move the bike and extend your range in a meaningful way compared to some of the faster and heavier bikes we see on this channel. Think of this one as a bicycle with a little bit of assistance rather than an electric motorcycle.

✅ My #1 Favorite Ebikes w/ pedals:
This is like the "Trophy Truck" of ebikes, like a pick-up truck with a nitrous switch, huge and has ridiculous power, big 26" off road tires, and big plush suspension... you'll get more smiles per gallon instead of miles per gallon, don't watch this if you aren't preparred to drop $2k today:

Also this one, but it costs a bit more after shipping and tax:

✅ My #1 Favorite "Moped" style Ebike w/ pedals (The Corvette of ebikes: huge performance at a bargain price compared to more refined competitors like Lamborghini and Ferrari, wheels 20" wheels sit lower to the ground)

#3

✅ My Favorite "Cheap" and Legal 26" x 4" Fat Ebike (Think of this ebike is the Ford F150 of ebikes: popular, reliable, big, strong, not as polished as a G-Wagon but it can do 95% the same thing at a fraction of the price)

✅ The "Toyota of Ebikes" (reliable, smaller size, good range, everything you need at a bargain price)

Hi Matt, another great review. Thank you! And your explanation of the charger was spot-on; in the radio controlled aircraft world, we call this charging method 'constant current and constant voltage' (CC-CV), where the charger applies the maximum allowed charging current to the battery as long as the cell voltage is below its maximum value, and once the battery reaches that voltage, the charger gradually decreases the current to maintain a constant voltage. My guess is that ebike chargers work about the same way. Take care! -Ronnie

Good video as always and I think that it is so cool that you let people take a quick spin on your bikes sometimes. I enjoy the hill test in the garage.Good job.

For that price is a great choice and it is good to do some exercise as well. Love that mango yellow. Nice review 👌🏼

Glad you reviewed a lower powered ebike. I like getting exercise from my bike but need a bit of help on the hills. This seems like a almost perfect bike for me, just wish it had a torque sensor. As you mentioned the Discover 2 does have a torque sensor.

Its funny for me finding your channel as I was researching e-bikes. I live in almost the same area, pretty familiar with that testing route haha. Great reviews! really inspiring me to pick a bike and get to the beach more often!

Matt - lost your YT site for a while
Really enjoy your reviews, have not yet bought an ebike
This one I like a lot !
My nephew lives in Ocean side and I've been to Long Beach many times
Despite the homeless looks like a place I'd enjoy
Can't imagine CRASHING one of those ! Broken bones for sure

I really like this bike because it does not seem to heavy. I also like the yellow colour. Thanks for a great review.

You may have to buy better tires because the ones they send are in the “good” category only. I had to fork out $200 to get better tires installed. On the first 3 mile ride home the rear tire went flat after I got home.

You can use the left thumb accelerator to start the power for peddle assist. Upon arrival the suspension was locked mode. Make sure to adjust the lock or the ride will be stiff.

Hey dude love your videos. I work very close to this place that you are riding (next to google building). I want to get my first ebike and kind of like this one. The ebikes that you are reviewing, do you sell them after?

I’ve heard some bad things abt the discover 2 however never experienced them myself great bike 1474 miles in just a month no issues with the controller and the discover 2 with the new update does have cadence now as well as the stock torque I can get about 33 mph on it with a full charge

Very well done review. Sometimes I used to like to take my former Gotrax EBE8(stupid ass name) 500w down to the beach or just a trip to the store to do some light errands, etc. It's a very easy, light, accessible e-bike that everyone can enjoy. Is it going to set any speed records? Nope. Is it going to have mind numbing torque? Nope. But will it get you down the road or to the beach in a reasonable manner that is A economical. You aren't spending a lot on electricity and gas. and B. Being fun for a spouse or partner so they can enjoy the bike as well. So even though it may seem "bad"(??) This may be more appropriate to your situation and it seem like a very well built bike that would do well with just a few upgrades.

I'm surprised that they are still using 500w motors for these. 750 are found on a lot of bikes now, and for a well-known company, I would expect more. I understand it is made for cruz'n and not necessarily made for speed, but it would be nice to have the little extra extra.

My wife has a Velotric Discover 1 (not the plus version). It’s a good bike. What does the plus have over the older version? I’m surprised they updated the 1 considering the 2 hasn’t been out long.

Similarly priced to Lectric's Xpress. Xpress has a 750watt option with a torque sensor!,
Still limited to 48v battery. No unlocking past class 3 though.
