Four months ago I wrote a comment on this video stating that I had my eyes on the Level.2. At the time I had a Velotric Discover 1. Little did I know that just after making my comment I was going to go down a roller coaster of problems with Velotric. Basically the bike started failing and their customer service was so horrible (even under warranty they refused to help) that I sold the bike at a loss and pulled the trigger on the Aventon Level 2.

Within about 30 seconds on the Level 2 I completely understood why people prefer a torque sensor. It was an adjustment compared to my previous cadence sensor not only in the sensor itself, but riding position, but once I got it I became massively addicted. I started riding at the very end of April 2023 and stopped just recently in early July (I live in AZ and it's simply FAR too hot between July and like October) and in that time I put over 800 miles on my bike. I cannot believe how well made it is, how fun it is and how great it looks to boot.

I still kick myself that I didn't get an Aventon sooner, but better late than never I suppose. I cannot wait until the weather cools down again as my bike was (and will be again) my primary form of transportation for everything except picking up weekly groceries.

I did a lot of research before picking up the Level 2. Nothing else I found from an established company provided these features and build quality *with a torque sensor* for $2k. This was an easy buy decision for me.

Long term reviews are definitely necessary for all these ebikes. I miss the days when TV shows would have long-term reviews that would help us avoid any pitfalls.

thanks for the video. I just purchased a Level 2 and I love it. The price has come down. $1799.00

I think the price is totally reasonable, especially since Aventon's other offerings go as low as $1, 300. It's good to see the brand going in a direction of embracing quality.

I’ve just bought a Level.2 here in Western Australia and I have to say that I’m very impressed by the bike. The build quality is superb and the torque sensor compared to my other bike, a momentum transcend, is just far superior. Anyway, love the bike and looking forward to riding it more.

Right now Aventon is at the top of their game. They have the smoothest torque sensors I have tried and that helps a lot on the range. All of aventon bikes are pretty good to be honest.

There are so many e bikes available now with this same style of frame that you need to sort out which is best for company support and even if the company will be around in a few years in case you need parts or service.

2k for a quality ebike isn’t over priced at all. I’ve been looking at this bike for a while and another M2S sport carbon and it’s at the 3k range. My concern is weight and hub motor. I would prefer a lighter bike with mid drive. But the Aventon as equipped in this video is getting harder to pass up. I think it weighs around 70 lbs though.

Great video, I am looking for a great reliable ebike for when I go to the beach and mountains or just anywhere in general.

I know this is an older video but quite of the aveton bikes are now on pretty nice fall promo discounts. I'm trying to decide between the 500.2 the 500.3 and this Level.2 bike you reviewed. Any thoughts as to which one represents the best value relative to their respective prices? I really like the yellow looking Soltera, but looking for the 28 MPH speed. Thank you

The Level2 is an absolute winner for anyone on the fence of purchasing their first commuter E-Bike and within this price range.

They are starting to be sold at a bike shop in Maryland now. A motorcycle shop in Hagerstown Maryland just started selling them.

It’s $1699.00 right now and that’s an incredible deal, I am grabbing one next month. Currently own the Aventure.2 and love it, very solid workmanship.

my wife's ride1up 700 has maybe 1s delay on the throttle control...it's worse than any throttle I've ever used (car/motorcycle). combined with just as slow cadence sensor, it's really making the ride way worse than it could/should be.
its nice to see torque sensor being added to hub motors, although in that case, it makes it dangerously close in price to a ride1up prodigy or probably some other affordable mid drives. also a ride1up LMT'D is cheaper with torque sensor + FREE additional battery right now!
hub ok for flatter areas and if you don't like shifting your bike. mid drive much better for climbs (must have for MTB trails) and also quick acceleration off the line, if you're ready to go shift often. Don't forget that derailleur/groupset quality matters much more on a mid drive

2, 000 dollars expensive? Depends? A Specialized Turbo Vado is 4, 000 dollars. I spend around 2, 000 on gasoline annually. My auto insurance is going to be 2, 400 dollars this year by estimate. Yeah you're right, 2, 000 dollars is expensive. Great video though. I was originally going to get a Cannondale Synapse for about 2, 000 to 2, 500 dollars. I am seriously considering the Aventon Level instead.

If it was a $pecialized would you say it was pricey? I wonder if the issue is that we expect DTC e-bike only brands to be cheap and fighting for the profits. Compare this to the Como 3.0 and Specialized gives you a middrive and name brand components. The Level.2 has a bigger battery and 28mph unlock which is a massive feature assuming it delivers. The Como starts at $3250.

I trust a bike that I have to pay over $1750 more than I do a $1000 unit that I know was a corner cutting design exercise. When we're afraid to value such a feature rich bike, is it a sign that we're not investing in transportation, but racing to the bottom for crap that we'll be happy to replace in two years. I think this bike looks great. Maybe Aventon would gain more credibility if they used Microshift and Tectro, or offered two or three spec options with better name brand components at the top levels. To me, name brand components promise years of service, and a guarantee of interchangeability. I'd be scared that my investment in an e-bike locks me into irreplaceable parts if the company fades away or just moves on in their design and abandons old bespoke components.

E-bike frames could or should be a lifetime investment that promises decades of responsible use, replaceable parts, and even support for future components that fit standardized fittings. That's sustainable transportation we can all get behind. Is that the feeling you get with an Aventon?

How much does it weigh? For those of us who live in an apartment in a walk-up, that is a very important factor in any potential purchase.

Thinking of buying an e-bike. Part of my commute is on a dirt trail. Is it possible to put mountain/off road wheels on the bike? Or is the wheel well frame too tight for that modification?

Great review! I am on my second E-bike, but ready for something new. Been studying long and hard. Torn between the Level.2 Commuter and the City Robin X. Any thoughts ?
