India policy of generosity with neighbours has always backfired. Be it with Nepal or Srilanka. When China opened its purse these countries forgot India help during tough times and went with China and plotted against India by giving its infrastructure(which is their right if they want). India should provide support but with reciprocity in mind. If Srilanka does not pay then India should ask for port so that we can build a naval infra to counter China there

Any aid we give will go down the drain. No economy can run on tourism and tea/spices. The people are paying for electing corrupt people.

Srilankan PM in a recent interview with Wion said their government is trying to leverage from the conflict between India and China in Ladakh. Such an irresponsible statement coming from a head of the government says it all about the sad state of foreign policy of Srilanka right now. Even after all the initial assistance, how can India trust Srilanka won't betray it in the future. As for China, they ignore any SOS call for immediate assistance but are very eager to offer a new credit line with a 'better' interest rate anytime. Everyone knows there are hidden strings attached to any Chinese offer.

In the interview with WION Sri Lankan president said, the only problem they have is dollar problem. India's credit line to Sri Lanka in dollar is also depreciating rupee vs dollar value.
