You in Gravitas, are effectively negating the version of government officials of your own country and whip up a supposed estrangement of relationship between India and Sri Lanka. The stability of the subcontinent and consequently the ocean around it is in the interest of India and its neighbours. Current developments may be incoherrent to that section of the Indian population which believes in the doctrine of "India first in the region". I wish to recount my experience nearly 33 years ago when I was in Kathmandu, Nepal, and an Indian gentleman who was with me inquired as to how I got to Kathmandu. Upon replying that the point transit was Bangkok, his angry reaction with eyes reddened was "Completely by-passed India". Such a mentality will not help in building bridges between neighbouring countries, particularly Sri Lanka. It is important that at this juncture, all those in India take a pragmatic approach in building strong bridges between India and Sri Lanka. I value the freedom of speech of everybody but it is up to the fourth estate of India which promotes the interests and well being of India to exercise its discretion in helping to build bridges between the two countries for united we win and divided we fall.
