Waist trainers can help a skinny woman get a big booty. For someone looking to gain weight a waist trainer allows the fat to be deposited in areas not under the pressure of the waist trainer. One will have to wear it at least 80% of the time while weight gaining. So trainers will help a skinny person get a coke bottle figure if wanting to gain weight. But does little for anyone wanting to lose weight.

Mine squished my stomach in but it also cut off my circulation in my arms and legs which was not worth it. I prefer the old school method of working it out and sweating. This is the lazy persons quick fix

Sorry but the scientist in me says no.  I had to wear something similar after having surgery on my spine and it did not change or cinch my waist and it was snug to keep my spine straight as it healed!  I have seen extremes and I would be more concerned with organ displacement.
