Built in Colonial Style in 1938, this mansion would soon be home to a dark secret. Firefighters were called to the home when an alarm was going off inside because of the lack of oxygen in the air. When crews arrived, they had to call the hazmat team to even go inside. What they found was haunting, over 115 accounts of animal abuse, and animals living in horrible conditions. The parents both went to prison, and the home was surrendered to the police, and shuttered. Their only child was left behind, only about 12. Her life stripped from her, as she learns the dark truth of her family. She grew up to become an animal rights activist. Today, we will be learning the entire story as we explore this abandoned crime scene mansion. If you enjoy leaves a thumbs up and consider subscribing for more exploring content !

The pain and suffering of all those innocent animals must linger in the air.

Ok, I know this property personally! I rode through it as a kid and so did many horse owners in the area. This was not a dark house...it's original owners were author George Plympton's parents...Francis and Pauline. It was white with dark shutters and well kept. Mr. Plympton used to wave to us as he went down the long driveway in an old Rambler station wagon. He passed first. Mrs. Plympton donated the large meadow at the rear of the property to The Nature Conservancy upon her death, which promptly closed off access to horseback riders as they don't believe horses should ride on their properties...they're extremists. The house then remained on 7 acres. After the estate was settled these horrid people bought it and ran it to ruin. She a psychiatrist and he a dermatologist. They painted the awful colors around the house. On the day in question a friend and fellow horseperson who lives nearby was called by a local veterinarian the police had contacted to assist in examining and helping with the many necessary euthanasia needed on site. She told me how she cried the whole time...said it was the most horrific scene she'd ever experienced and it still haunts her. Late last fall the house finally went into a sales contract. As it can't be seen from the road I don't know whether they are gutting the interior or demolishing it for new. It was a lovely place until those sick monsters bought it. I can't believe he's still has his medical license!

Thank you for being so respectful of Emily and her family’s belongings. So very very sad to hear Emily passed away. The video tapes of Poirot were circa 1990’s and British actor David Suchet was the lead actor.

Sleep easy Emily after all your sadness and struggles, be sure you will be remembered for your good works not for your parents' hateful deeds. RIP ❤

You would have thought two physicians would have had enough money for a housekeeper, a cook, a kennel for lots of dogs and several maids to keep everything in order.

Can you imagine what that little girl felt, when her whole world fell apart. So sad.

I love that you are so respectful of the things left behind. Also how you talk about the little girl with so much care and seems love. Definitely going to look for the first video.

I went back to watch your 1st explore before going further. It's amazing to see what nature (and vandals) has done over 6 years. Those pics brought the explore to another level of sadness. Thank you for returning and also giving us the update on Emily.

It’s taken me a few days to process this but I wanted to share my perspective here to try and set the record straight. Emily was a personal friend. We’re the same age and it was from around ages 22-27. We met and started hanging out almost every day because the guys we were dating were best friends. Emily had an apartment in the city which basically had an open door policy for her friends. She hosted hundreds of game nights and birthday parties and anytime a friend needed a place to stay in the city Emily would offer her couch. Her friends were truly her family. Emily was extremely creative she used to have journals that she would pass around at parties that became like a living record or the artistic scene she helped create. For work she was a stage manager at a local play house. She lived to help other people make their dreams come true. I see all of her dolls and stuffed and I imagine her as a little girl putting on plays with her animals. The dresses in the closet are stage costumes, Emily grew up a theatre kid always putting on a show and performing for those around her. As bright of a flower that Emily was her short life was marred by something much darker. I didn’t know until later in our friendship when I went through my own hospitalization experience about Emily’s childhood which she almost never spoke about. Starting around age 7 Emily’s mom was in and out of mental health facilities. Little Emily must’ve witnessed countless episodes from her mother which her dad tried desperately to protect her from. The mini horse and other animals were definitely distraction presents as Dr. Gladstein doted relentlessly on his daughter. She never let it turn her into someone who wasn’t loving and grateful and generous to others. The bedrooms next to Emily’s were guest rooms for when her friends were over. She was an only child and her friends became her siblings. It was pretty well known that her parents hadn’t shared a bed in a number of years. Around age 11 Emily was living nearly full time with her Grandma somewhere else on LI. The apartment Emily lived in in her 20s is above Dr. Gladsteins practice so I’m assuming he lived above the office while his wife was in long term hospital. Yes he still practices because he has to make a living. He’s looking at moles all day he’s not a psychologist or a pediatrician. It must’ve been horrible for the people who lived in the area to see the property to fall into disarray and the animals suffering. I blame Dr. Gladstein for getting in over his head with the house, not hiring a care taker, putting his wife first, but it’s hard for me to think of him as a bad person knowing all he went through. No one had really lived at the house for years when it was raided. It’s wrong to characterize it as Emily was “left behind”. She was with her grandmother. While I do believe Dr. Gladstein should never be able to own a dog or a mini horse again I think this entire situation speaks to the horrible fate of people who suffer from mental health in this country. Emily always had a long haired cat around her who she took very good care of and adored. She was vegan and very strict about it. I saw it with the my own eyes. She and her family do not abuse animals. Mental health in this country is too expensive. Emily was the kind of person who had hundreds if not thousands of friends and it kills me that I’m the first one to try and defend her and her family in this very mischaracterized video. I’d love to encourage people to look at these situations with more nuance and sensitivity. I miss Emily so much. She was the kind of person who said “I love you, text me when you get home” to everyone she said good bye to. I love you Emily, text me when you get home.

Can you imagine being the patient of a doctor who is arrested for such a crime? Would make my skin crawl.

Michael and Marilyn Gladstein were arrested in September of 2010...that house was condemned just 1 week after their arrest so they were never allowed back inside which explains the advanced state of decay. The husband was a predominate and wealthy Dermatologist in Long Island NY. There were 115 dogs living in degusting conditions there. Marilyn ran a puppy mill out of that place. Michael Gladstein is still practicing in Brooklyn NY...

Thank you for exploring and NOT exploiting!!! I have urban explored before it even had a name. We took nothing but our memories! I’m so sick of seeing this YT clout chasers making videos and only for the clout! I’ve watched you guys for years.

Also thanks for filling in what happened. I’m sure the daughter carried the guilt and shame of this horrible tragedy!

Wow, nature is tearing it down. Thanks for updating the story. I looked in a bit further and you know how internet research goes. The details of Emily's death have been kept quiet but apparently it is related to a car accident. She was living in Florida. She passed in June of 2022 at the age of 28 but she did have 2 other siblings that may have came after the animal cruelty charges against her parents. Everything was left because as soon as HAZMAT took control of the scene, they declared the mansion "condemned" and no one was allowed to enter it, not even the owners the retrieve any belongings. It was seized by the police department but later they (state) tried to sell it for 1.5 mil (SMH). I tried to find how long the parents were incarcerated but in appears that other than the initial jail time when officers found the home with the animals, they were arraigned and ordered to pay 142, 000.00. There's no mention of a sentence for either parent and the father is still practicing dermatology now in the state but away from the area.
I loved Emily's "rooms". When my daughter was an only child, the entire end of our house consisted of her "rooms" - bedroom, bathroom and playroom. She was an only child for 7 years and spoiled like Emily. Emily was precious. No matter how she passed, may God bless her with eternal rest. Her world was turned upside down and some children don't do well under those circumstances.
I love the floral wallpaper! Ha! Great video. Take care, stay safe & God bless! xoxxo Kat
Oh and there was 1 cat in the mix - I bet it stayed on the ceiling. Talk about walking on eggshells!!

This is so tragic. This house looked like it was a dream home, and just laid to waste by these very sick people. RIP Emily. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain she endured.

Poor Emily. Rest peacefully. It's bad enough that she had to witness such animal abuse, but to have to leave all her things behind. How awful.

Emily Gladstein passed away due to a car accident. The young lady was 28. How very sad. And her father was a dermatologist. Not sure who it was in the comments that said the parents were psychiatrists, but not true. Emily passed in 2022 and was an animal rights activist.

The music queuing in right as you began your approach toward the doll house made my eyes well up. I can feel the history of this house.
It's very bittersweet. You can sense there were roots laid for joy to flourish...but clearly mental health issues choked the life out of this place & everything in it.
