In today’s episode we take you on a tour of an abandoned farm house built in the 1840s. This small house along with its stables directly across the road was once home to a songwriter and author. Although of his great success he enjoyed living quietly in his little home. But around 2009 he decided to change lifestyles a bit moving him, his wife and one daughter to Los Angeles California so his daughter could pursue her dreams as a horse back rider. Now after the move the man’s nephew took over the property and what would happen next is straight out of a true crime story. While living in the house he went on a trip and when he arrived back he wanted to surprise his girlfriend who was still living at her parents home. But when he walked in and saw his girlfriend cheating on him he went crazy and stabbed her over 30 times and killed the man she was cheating with. Right after he drove back to the small home where he would later be arrested and sentenced to prison. And one thing we noticed inside the home was on the arm rest of the chair is what looks to be dried blood presumably there from when he got home after brutally stabbed his girlfriend. I think even though cheating on your partner is very bad I believe ending another life is even worse. So join me today and let’s see what’s left.

Crazy how electric companies are quick to turn off electricity to occupied homes but places abandoned like this for years still have ample power.

The low ceilings drove the killer to murder.

I am blind and I appreciate you giving such thorough descriptions of the places that you go to see. Thank you very much for being such a thorough describer and explorer.

I admire your respect for the properties. I have been exploring since the 80s and my rule is always to not take anything. Even as a bratty hobo teen, I respected and cared for the properties I squatted. I did take a brick from Detroit's famous abandoned last year but I rarely explore anymore. I'm much older, more vulnerable, and it's so much more dangerous now. TY for sharing this. I'm glad young people are doing this work respectfully.

So sad that the nephew was left with such a beautiful property that he could have created beautiful memories on, but instead of seeing what he had he was blinded by anger and threw it all away along with two other lives. A great reminder to focus on what you do have instead of on what you dont.

I’m a total book lover. I’d spend the whole day just looking at the books!

As a book reader I'm glad to see that you stopped to show some of the books. I've seen other abandoned exploration videos where if there's a shelf of books or two that often get ignored. It's a shame they're left behind to waste.

Oklahoma here . love this . I used to do this as a teenager back in the 80's all the way through the 90's exploring old houses and abandoned towns. never would have thought it would have became popular or hobby for anyone Funny How Times change..

I would imagine that the daughter still owns the home. She may have taken what she wanted out of the house but rarely goes there, Too many traumatic memories.

A house that held such promise of ideas and a future now left to rot because of someone's choice. It's sad to see it left in that state. Thank you for sharing.

Do you ever get creeped out going through abandon homes with this type of history? (They really didn’t do any updating of the home of furnishing).

I used to work as a mitigation technician (sounds fancy but it's not). Part of the job was sometimes cleaning out house where everything was left behind. It's crazy how you can really get to know someone just by going through all their stuff

It's strange how a lot of the items in the house look dated well beyond the time the nephew took over ownership. There are very few things that looked relatively recent - the car, the radio in the kitchen, but for the most part it looks like a time capsule of a house abandoned in the 1970’s, 80’s, maybe even 90’s with the CD's and sound system found in the den/bedroom.
The nephew must have either not had the house very long or just didnt spend a lot if time there and didnt make many changes to it.

Our farmhouse (150 years old) is laid out as oddly as this house. And our stairs are super small and very steep. We're just getting around to knocking out the plaster ceilings, which are rather low like this house, and installing additional beams to bear a circular shower curtain for the antique claw foot tub. Our place is 4.5 stories, which is really kind of weird, as well. I think something very dark happened here sometime in the past; I just feel it in my bones. It sat vacant for a number of years and during that time, kids used it as a party house. This is really in the sticks, so no one really kept watch at all. All of the copper was stolen during the vacancy. I'd loved to have had someone do a spiritual walkthrough before we moved here, but we didn't know a soul.

That's wild that you need to explain book ends to people. Everyone I knew growing up had at least 1 room like this, covered in books. Alas, so much is digital now. I'll never get used to that...

I love watching all kinds of videos when people explore & tell the story behind it & to hear about the murder that happened is so sad what gets me though is how electricity is able to stay on after so many years it's crazy.

Now I'll forever be wondering if the car had blood in it, too. Great video, as always.

I love abandoned houses. When everything is left "standing still" it empowers me to find out WHY.
If found some VERY interesting homes with even more interesting life stories.
This one is an amazing one with an rven more amazing story.

It was (famous songwriter/author) niece who was murdered. She was only 23. This house is not connected to the murder except for the fact who lived there was related to the deceased.
