Thank you 🙏 breath work is huge, I encourage everyone to focus on breath control

I do this 🙋🏻‍♂️ normally from 900 to 1000 calories burned per hour. I do DDPY and learned about my HR a lot ❤ love the video.

That is a great suggestion Rick. I think I'll start wearing mine to jiu jitsu. Recovery rate is a key indicator of heart health too.

I wear a Polar OH1 arm strap. It never comes off or drops out. My heart rate spikes immediately to over 180 when rolling! Even when rolling light. 59 yr old blue belt with many years (off and on) of BJJ

I just started wearing a small armband monitor (Polar OH-1) and it has been eye-opening. I went that route because I think a chest strap is more likely to either move or become uncomfortable with all the pressure applied to the chest. I have no complaints with the very small OH-1 as an armband. No issues with it moving when placed very high (between biceps and deltoid).
Be aware that most HR apps overestimate calorie burn, so if you care about tracking calorie burn, reduce it by 10-20%, and you'll be more accurate.

Some Garmin HRMs store the data until you finish the activity on their tracker. Got them specifically for jiujitsu

Thank you for this. I need to wear a monitor.

I like Morpheus HR strap, as you can upload the data afterwards, it is still a chest strap (taping it to the band helps), only issue I have is when super heavy guys are on top its a bit uncomfortable. I also like that Morpheus adapts to how you recover and gives you zones and weekly targets to strive for.

Whoop in waistband of shorts (Whoop's branded shorts) works for me can track heart rate during rolls and stays in place

Chest straps do not stay in place. They immediately slip off my chest cavity down to my stomatch.

Does wearing a rash guard over the chest strap help keep it in place?

Those hr numbers seem shockingly high for someone in their 50's. I'm surprised that you are able to repeatedly put forth that level of effort over such a short time period. I wonder if you are an outlier from what is possible (or healthy) for most people? Have you ever done a V02 max test, I'd be curious what your V02max is and how far above the normal range it is?
