Why is the 3DS Popular Again?

This is why I believe the Nintendo 3ds is regaining it's popularity in 2024. It was super popular back in the last decade but with teg release of the switch last lost some popularity, but it's now back. The servers shutting down led a lot of ppl into nodding their console. I recently modded my system and it’s been awesome; it’s like a new system now

I recently bought a buddy's new 2ds XL just for monster hunter 4 ultimate and I've just modded it and realizing how many good games are on 3ds. I'm gonna be entertained for pretty long time with it. This is the view of a mainly PC player also.

I like all Mario games except Hotel Mario lol. And my favorite 3ds game is either F1 2011 or Pokemon Omega Ruby

To be fair I think all of the DS family except possibly the original is making a comeback.

My theory on why it's getting popular again is that, a lot of people who couldn't buy it or afford it when it was new and still in production, finally can buy it for themselves and play the games they missed out on.

The 3DS is magnificient and really helped me through some tough times and even to socialize better with other nerds due to StreetPass groups.
Although I sold most of my collection, it truly has a special place in my heart.

I’ve been playing mine for years still, I’m a huge smt fan and the 3ds and ds has some of the best games in the series, and I’m just pissed off because whenever I suggested a 3ds game, people would just be like, “oh I don’t want to play my 3ds anymore”, and now they suddenly care

What's really interesting about the 3DS is that it made Virtual Boy games playable and Nintendo never leveraged the 3DS' full potential to do this.

It's weird, one random day in 2014 I started to want a nintendo 3ds so bad, I kept asking to my mom to buy one, and then one of her friends bought it for me, yeaah I got it but later like in 2017 it dissapeared (istg idk where it is💀), now in 2024 I started to want a nintendo 3ds again and im about to get one😼... now what I need It's money-

I modded my 3ds about a month ago and it was the best decision I have ever made, I like Super Mario Bros 2 a lot, I'm now downloading Kid Icarus I hope it's good

I think an important reason is that the switch just isn't that portable, its big, and battery life isn't the best, so the next best option in "Nintendo-land" automatically becomes the 3DS, since its the last true portable, before switch.

I literally js found a 3ds xl for the price of a switch lite in my area and that was the cheapest..it also has some scratches. It's insane to me how an older console costs so much still?? But i still got it js bc of what you said..modding..but also nostalgia, which i think is a big part. As a kid I used to have a pink DSi and used to spend so much time on it, I really want to go back to all the games I played so the fact that 3ds can play DS and 3DS games is amazing. I still have my switch lite but I barely touch it anymore bc the games are crazy expensive and my hype with ACNH just went away

Find it funny how people in this comment section cant praise the 3ds without hating on the switch. It's like "Oh, this old console is so nostalgic and great, and BOOO THE SWITCH IS A PRODUCT OF A CORRUPT MEGACORPORATION FOR BABIES" Like the 3ds isnt even bad but this is just stupid. If you like older consoles, that's fine. But dont be obnoxious about it.
