Deglobalization Explained in One Minute: Definition, Examples and 2020 Context

To meaningfully understand what is happening in 2020 and the various forces that are at play, it is crucial to "get" deglobalization as a concept. As such, in approximately one minute, this video explains what deglobalization is all about and... well, why you should care.

From definition to historical examples and, of course, information related to the 2020 context, the video takes things one step at a time so as to ensure this tricky concept is understood properly.

It goes without saying that we are dealing with a rather controversial topic, with pretty much every market observer having a strong opinion about globalization/deglobalization.

Whenever analyzing such topics, keeping an open mind is a must. By not letting whichever political bias you may have cloud your judgement, you are putting yourself in a good position to actually "get" deglobalization meaningfully rather than superficially.

At the end of the day, nobody has a working crystal ball and it is therefore impossible to predict the final outcome from a 2020 perspective. The next best thing, however, is having our bases covered and this video (hopefully) helps with just that :)

If you have a great domain you want to turn into an amazing website or an existing site you'd like to upgrade/scale, visit our website or check out the One Minute Economics presentation video below:

Please note that this comment is not an ad for a third-party service provider. GiganticWebsites.com is my baby 100% and I will personally be involved in each and every project so as to ensure the website turns out great :)

Just wondering - is there a particular school of economic thought which One Minute Economics typically adheres to? Thanks!

Populism is a word devoid of any agreed upon meaning. Everybody means different things by it. Most commonly it is used by polittians who lost elections to derisively describe their opponents who won elections.

If Trump thinks globalization can help him keep his job, he will promote globalization. If Trump thinks globalization will harm his reelection bid, he will oppose globalization. It's that simple.

Great lesson! There has been some talk of economic nationalism in the short term as a reaction to COVID-19 (e.g. less dependence on China for manufacturing), but the consequences are potentially far-reaching...
