What DeGlobalization Means for Our Kids

The world we are living today is very different from what it was in 2019, and it doesn't look like we will ever go back. In this video, I discuss how the trend towards "deglobalization" as described by Peter Zeihan in his book, "The End of the World is Just the Beginning: Mapping the Collapse of Globalization" will impact our kids. I see three important trends resulting from deglobalization in the years ahead: 1) more barriers to international travel, 2) manufacturing becoming cool again and 3) increasing importance of agriculture and agricultural studies.

Really great that you’re exploring these issues. As a recent father (2.5yrs) I have found my paternal instincts kicking in and looking at forecasts by Zeihan and other strategists helps me ensure a prosperous future for my family. We also intend to homeschool, for health and ideological reasons (no Wokeness for our kids, thanks) and I appreciate you bringing attention to geopolitics for the homeschool community!

I'm a big fan of Peter Zeihan as well and find his most important idea is that the world is facing a massive agricultural and energy shortage starting this winter due to the Russian invasion of The Ukraine. The hardest hit areas are Europe, Aisa, and the Middle East but we will probably see massive disruptions within 6 months to two years.

I hope not and am actively looking for solutions to these real-world problems, but I don't see solutions readily available. Do You, or anyone?

The highly automated factories will have the same effect on manufacturing that it has on much of farming in the USA fewer people producing more goods.

Because of the price of farm land being driven up the real growth area in agriculture is indoor farming that can be built anywhere there is cheap land and low energy prices

I don’t have kids but as a homeschooler you if you have a house with a yard you can educate yourself and your children in that by building a basic aquaponic system for salad greens

It's interesting how many positives Ziehan indicates that we have here in America. He doesn't seem to effectively acknowledge how many domestic issues we have though and how divisive and ideological our media, current "leaders" and institutions have become. Pray God his optimism becomes more reality than educated opinion!
