Now this is how it should be explained, plain, simple, to the point, no crazy music, or long drawn out introductions and no story telling in between, wish I could like this 5 more times over.

One of the best instructional videos I've ever seen on youtube! No frills, great camera angles, and 50 years of lessons learned the hard way condensed into a 9-minute video so dummies like me can do it the right way from the start... Take note youtube sharers, THIS is what we want!!

I've run chainsaws, falling here in B.C. for the past 25 years and this is the first video on filing a saw that I've watched that covered all the important bases without any gizmos or useless info confusing the subject. Well done.

I've been renovating a barn for the past 4 years and of all the videos I've needed to learn from, this is by far the best for a lot of reasons. It's such a simple, beautifully shot video with a teacher that obviously knows what he's doing. What a pleasure to learn from him. Thank You!

I have watched several chainsaw sharpening videos and this was the absolute best. Every aspect of the sharpening process was covered which included very specific yet understandable steps. Thank you!

I worked with a shipwright back in the 80's - I learned that Shipwrights can do anything! Fix, Fabricate, Repair, Finish, Paint, Restore... They are a combination of Carpenter, Cabinet maker, Cooper, Blacksmith, Rigger and a little lumberjack when needed. Thankyou sir for sharing your vast wealth of knowledge... Great tutorial... 👍

Excellent instructor. Quiet, conversational, with clear delivery that so many others don't seem to be able to put over these days. Many thanks.

I've always had a gut feeling to listen and learn from the older guys.
More detail and answers than anyone.
This dude is number 1.

I firmly believe that every other channel on YouTube needs to come watch this video to see the proper way to make a "How To" video. This may sound silly but after watching you do this, and never having done it myself before, I honestly feel like an expert. Thank you!!!

I’d recommend watching this video even if you weren’t trying to learn how to sharpen a chain. Thank you for such a well done piece

This guy really knows how to use a file. When I was an apprentice in a machine shop, everyone knows that the first thing you must master is how to file. Great video; including camera work and great teacher. Thanks a lot. jrf

I watched your video expecting to get  a laugh like I do from most chainsaw chain sharpening tutorials. No laughs here. You did everything the way I was taught. Great work. I worked logging and pulpwood cutting in Northern NY for many years. I will refer anyone who asks me to this video, Thank you

Best sharpening video I have seen !
Having spent 4 years in a sharpening shop that was founded in 1936,
& only fixing chainsaws, I enjoyed this video. Covers all the points
we were taught, down to removing the burr.
(We were told to tap the cutter with a vertical stroke, using the end of the wooden file handle. This would fold the burr down over the cutting edge, and break it off.)
We would often have 20 or 30 chains to sharpen first up in the morning, and did them all by hand. The owner of the shop said that no other way would get the right finish on the cutting edge.

I've been around chainsaws for more than 68 years, and this is THE BEST explanation I have had the pleasure to experience. Reminds me of listening to my Dad who sold McCollough and Homelite in N. California but without the New England accent! Thanks.
