I worked with a shipwright back in the 80's - I learned that Shipwrights can do anything! Fix, Fabricate, Repair, Finish, Paint, Restore... Best sharpening video I have seen !
Having spent 4 years in a sharpening shop that was founded in 1936,
& only fixing chainsaws, I enjoyed this video. Covers all the points
we were taught, down to removing the burr.
(We were told to tap the cutter with a vertical stroke, using the end of the wooden file handle. This would fold the burr down over the cutting edge, and break it off.)
We would often have 20 or 30 chains to sharpen first up in the morning, and did them all by hand. The owner of the shop said that no other way would get the right finish on the cutting edge.
