I love that his books are slow burners - what you learn pretty quickly with Sanderson is just to trust him, the pay off will always be epic! (I literally choked up at certain points near the end of WoK when a certain two characters meet) Great review 👏🏻

Words of Radiance made me appreciate this book even more. This series is my new favourite.

Omg when you listed out all the stats about POVs and chapters it really puts into perspective how crazy big TWOK is!! But it's so, so good. I noticed that the first time I read it, it took me about 100 pages to really get into it. When you consider the fact that 100 pages is only 10% of the book, it makes sense! But the pacing issues of those first 100 pages I thought were there when I first read totally disappeared when I reread it.

Way of kings was the first book of Brandon Sanderson that I read and it jumped to be my favourite book in a matter of seconds so I amidiatly picked up mistborn and felt disappointed because it wasn't as good as wok. After I'll finish wheel of time I'll try reading it again and finish it this time

I read this book when I was fourteen. I had never read a book over 500 pages. It was one of the best books I have ever read. The worldbuidling man... just incredible. But, hey younger audiences can love this book, too!

I just audiobooked this because of how highly you praise this series. It was a nice read/listen :) I like the story and the tropes but I also appreciate that he managed to genuinely surprise me a few times. Thanks for the recommendation.

I'm up to about 800 pages of the book. I have to say I am really, really liking the story. I have read A LOT of fantasy, including Wheel of Time, of how I first heard of Sandersen. I really like how he writes this tale. I have found in some fantasy tales, the exposition can slow down the story, but very impressed how nothing is wasted. Every word has a point, and leads to add to the story. I have book 2, and intend to get book 3. Also have book 1 of Witcher series to read after, then plan on Mistborn. Like your reviews, you helped start me down this road, and always very happy to find new books that are great. Keep up the reviews, excellent job, and glad to see someone else steeped in the fantasy genre. Out of others I really like Terry Prachett's Discworld books, they are brilliant, and funny. There are many others of course. I am a huge Stephen King fan, and have read almost every book, but the Dark Tower novels are outstanding. The movie was not a good represantion at all sadly.

The way people pronounce book names differently never fails to put me through existential crises

I find Sanderson's worldbuilding so fascinating. You always feel like you understand where you stand, that you know what's going on, but you are still certain that there's so much more behind the scenes that is waiting to be discovered by you. For example, you see that spren come into existence because of people's emotions, but then they are also attracted by other things, and then you realize that there are some unknown things about them, and then you realize some are more special, and then, in the third book, you realize you actually only saw the tip of the iceberg ( almost literally ) when it came to spren. It's amazing.

Love your review.. and I’m kinda glad I watched it after reading the book because I actually enjoyed guessing how the characters are related or how they would eventually meet. That air of mystery kept me going for many pages

Great video. For someone that's never read epic fantasy it's great to have a heads up on the many subplots, numerous POVs and many starts to the book. If I had tried it without knowing I probably wouldn't have gotten very far. I'd love to read one in the future.

I’m so nervous to read this. Either:
1. I’m going to be completely overwhelmed and feel defeated if I can’t finish it.

Or

2. Fall completely in love with it, and (I have read only YA books) I will never feel like any YA books live up to my expectations.

I'm so happy I found your channel!!!  Expect to see a ton of comments from me moving forward because I have been binging on your videos all day!  I love to see women who love fantasy as much as I do, and now you have me SUPER intrigued on The Witcher!  My husband played the game, but you have me interested in the books since you mention them so much!  You've made me a fan!
