Anytime someone starts Stormlight for the first time, it makes me wish so badly that I could erase these from my memory and experience them all over again. I will never forget the journey that this book and series took me on and will continue to take me on for the rest of my life.

You're starting the series at a great time. Book 5 will come out next year. And even though it'll be 10 books long, it's more like two 5 book series. Sort of like era 1 & 2 of Mistborn.
Anyway get ready for Words of Radiance. It's one of the best sequels I've ever read and I already adored book 1!

This series is Brandon Sanderson's best so far, IMHO, and I've read a great many of his novels (though not all, 'cause the man is seriously prolific). Excellent review! I really enjoy your enthusiasm for books!

I’ve still never had a feeling reading a book like I had during the climax of the way of kings, truly mind blowing

This book brought me back to reading, there's really nothing like it as far as I'm concerned. My favorite book of all time. I'm really excited to go on this journey with you

Glad you enjoyed it so much, definitely belongs among the best of what would be considered Epic Fantasy. It didn't strike me until you were talking about it that the Knights Radiant feel like Sanderson's version of Jedi Knights!

I loved The Way of Kings when I read it, but I wonder if I would feel the same upon reread. That’s interesting that you mentioned philosophy because the magic of spren did make me think of Plato’s metaphysics.

I'm planning on doing my second re-read of this one in December for the lead up to book 5. Excited to jump back into the world of Roshar.

One of my favourite series, going to do a full reread before book 5 hopefully next year.

I've been waiting for this! Glad you enjoyed it as much as I thought you would! Enjoy the journey Radiant. I have a feeling you will enjoy Words of Radiance even more.

Also if you didn't see yet, Dragonsteel has restocked absolutely every leatherbound book including Way Of Kings. My wallet is hurting.

I started with Elantris and Mistborn Era 1 and adored them both but I've been waiting to read Stormlight until after I've done Warbreaker and for some reason just don't pick Warbreaker up! This review above all other Way of Kings reviews I've watched (theres been quite a few) has sealed it for me. I'm half way through Dark Age now, Lightbringer next, then I'm gunna do it- Warbreaker then start my Stormlight binge :D

John, just curious...did you read any of the other Cosmere books before Way of Kings..? I want to read it in Jan and wondering if I miss anything before diving in?

But did you cry? I've read and listened to TSA so many times. Can't wait for you to read WoR. And "how do you feel" was the perfect question to ask.

Yeah, i must've gotten another version or edition because i wasn't moved like you obviously were. After reading 4 books in Stormlight i feel secure in saying Sanderson is not my literary cup of tea. Incredibly verbose, world building for the sake of world building with no pay off (similar to Tolkien and Jordan). This book could have been just a impactful and half as long. Pedestrian prose, laughable relationships and one lame MC (Shallan) and a metro-sexual warrior (Adolin). That said, the first chapter, where the king gets assasinated was excellent. I read the first four and will read no more. I am glad so many people love this book and this author, i just don't understand why that is after reading for myself. Good video, love your enthusiasm.

Bold statement if your calling the Way of Kings the most philosophical fantasy lol I mean great series but hyperbolic statement indeed.
