Using the dewalt 4 1/2 inch circular saw tips and tricks and making 2 easy jigs.

In this video I show you how I use my super portable cordless Dewalt 4.5 inch circular saw. I also show you how to make 2 very useful jigs for making quick cross cuts and rip cuts. This little saw doesn’t take up much space. It’s light weight, portable and cut wood up to 1.5 inches thick and can handle plywood as well.

The simple crosscut jig for your circular saw: Using Thin CA glue and accelerator guarantees nothing shifts while driving in the screws. And after that first cut is made you have a reference for all subsequent cuts simply line the end of the jig to your line and cut boom. I recommend using a wider board so the jig is more ridged.

Guide track jig is simply a thin piece if MDF and a straight piece of wood. It’s made in a a similar fashion as the crosscut jig and can be used for cutting plywood or making rip cuts. All the is needed is a clamp to secure it down.

After the impact driver, this has become my favorite power hand tool. Such a safe and handy tool.

I love this little saw. Much easier to use than the full-size one. I'm a lefty and the ambi-safety switch is great. Your tips help tremendously.

Use this mainly for building wooden skatepark bowls, excellent for curved 9mm toplayer pieces. Single hand operation not a problem. All the milwaukee boys use my yellow buzzer as they love it too!

I bought one to craft and do small repairs, since
HD doesnt cut anything less than 12 inches, they say. Thanks to your video, I'm not as intimidated by this tool!

When using a speed square as your cut guide, I think it's much better to have the butted end against the side you are cutting from (not like you have it). By setting it on the side you cut from you can hold it more secure and it keeps your fingers out of the way of the cut. With how it’s held in this video the square can wander more and your fingers are right next to the cut path (very dangerous!!!). In my 30 years of carpentry I've never seen anyone on a job site do it that way. Also notice that when doing your 45 degree cut you actually pushed it away a little from the mid-point thus making it a little inaccurate. This “push out” is also very common with miter saws too, as it wants to pull the material toward the blade. Lastly at ~1:45 your hand is down by the blade for a sec or two with the motor running. Huge mistake there bud! Just some little things to be aware of for you young guys out there. Be safe!

You think this would be good for splitting or getting a decent straight edge out of pallet wood slats. ? Looking to do diy projects with free pallet wood and realized I probably shouldn't try and for them together without getting a decent straight edge. Thx. Beginner here

Hi, this was a super helpful video. I have this circular saw and was wondering, for groove cuts, how would you suggest setting things up to make the cut along the short edge of a board for making shaker cabinets with an inset panel?

Hello there! thanks for a nice video. Would you next time provide a description of the model number in more detail and show it completely to have a better idea of the size, model etc? It this the dewalt atomic 20v max circular saw, 4-1/2-inch (dcs571b) or is it a different model? Thank you again!

Thank you for this informative video. I purchased one of these saws to trim several interior doors with. Do you think the included 24 tooth blade will do a good job or will a different blade work better for clean finish cuts? I don't think Dewalt even makes a finer tooth 4-1/2" blade do they? Thanks.
