That opening scene, the sound of that V12 going through a tunnel, incredible

I love that the baddies' plan to rescue their boss was to wildly fire machine guns at the boot of the car into which he'd been crammed.

Also that Bond found the time to change his suit in the 30 seconds between the end of Casino Royale and the start of Quantum of Solace.

And that he somehow drove the four hours from the Italian lakes to Siena in a bullet-riddled Aston Martin with one door, which had just been involved in a gun battle in which two carabinieri died, without attracting any attention.

Still, this is a great sequence. One of the best openings to a Bond film ever.

I know the editing is quick but this is such a visceral car chase with real cars doing real things. I wish it had less cuts but its still great!

This WOULD have been a really great car chase if they didn't edit the hell out of it. They tried to make fast-cut editing be the "action" instead of letting the viewer get a good look at the real action. You've got cars going really fast -- that's all you really need. Compare this to the car chase from Bullitt, where they hold shots longer and let you see what's going on, and it's like night and day. Too bad, because this could have been SO much better.

Sound design and music are doing A LOT of heavy lifting on this one, because the cinematography and the editing are definitely playing against the movie.
