PECTRE’s Rome car chase between James Bond (Daniel Craig) in an Aston Martin DB10 and Hinx (Dave Bautista) driving a Jaguar C-X75.

“I loved the car chase being a one-on-one speed battle, a game of cat and mouse between two of the fastest cars in the world, neither of which had been seen before.” – director Sam Mendes.

After all those previous Bond chases, this feels like a nice countryside drive on a Sunday.

That camera shot as that Aston Martin power slides in front of St Peters Basilica is a thing of beauty.

When I saw this in theaters, I couldn't help but laugh when he landed his parachute as though he was taking a nice walk in the evening. His suit wasn't wrinkled or torn. Always classy lol

Considering how much this chase cost, it's truly stunning just how dull and danger-free it is.

3:35 you know your high speed car chase doesn't have the energy it needs, when you can find the time to cut away to a fridge-raiding sequence.

This scene never feels like a chase. More like a glorified Aston Martin commercial.

I think Daniel Craig held the most James Bond records in malfunction/error gadgets...

The car chase in 'Quantum of Solace' was incredible visceral but this car chase is incredibly technical. So much skill! I love how they're just launching and drifting their vehicles all over the place and making such tight, extreme turns at high speed. Incredibly thrilling and impressive

the city looks quarantined, so basically nothing has changed

I liked this movie more than most, but watching this makes me understand other people's views. A car chase should not be this calm. It comes off as a boring commercial.

It was a mistake to let a monument protection officer direct this car chase...

Everyone's hating on this chase for not being 'fast and dangerous'. Not every chase scene has to have huge explosions. It's beautifully shot and masterfully edited. Great work by everyone.

I love this chase. I love the callbacks to previous Bond movies and how Bond must rely on his driving skills and not the gadgets in order to escape.

Imagine being ejected from the car but end up landing in front of Bautista due to lack of wind. Wouldn't that be something..

wish they drove faster! always feels like they're going 60mph.
And Bautista never really attacks Bond with guns or tries to ram him, just sortof follows him around

There are more gadgets in a single Johnny English movie than all Bond movies with Daniel Craig combined.

What's the hate all about? Not every chase in Bond movies needs to be explosive as hell, this scene was subtle with a couple of really beautiful cars drifting around. Loved it!

See, I love the idea of Bond having a car that isn't ready for the field so he has to rely on his speed and skill to get away, so I'm fully on board with this chase, UNTIL Hinx drives up alongside Bond (showing he's much faster) and then *does nothing*. Now we know Hinx can easily catch up to Bond in a straight line, but he never does it again. It's a sterile scene where the audience doesn't know is Hinx is trying to catch or kill Bond. Hinx doesn't have a gun, fine, but to counteract the absence of weapons, his car needs to become the weapon, whether that's to kill him or just stop him. Otherwise it's not a deadly car chase, it's a street race
