I was finally able to understand this concept. Other videos just do the work without actually explaining what they are doing/why they are doing it. You are godsent. Thank you!!

I have watched all the videos out there to figure this out. Only this one made me understand it fully! Thank you :)

I feel like the centroids are wrong. The first rectangle should have y=160mm since y=150mm + (20mm/2) and the second rectangle should be y=75mm since 150mm/2 = 75mm. The total yA should be 705000 mm^3 and when you divide it to the total area which is 6000 mm^2. So, the centroid of the composite object should be around 117.5 mm.

Why is there a value for dx when the centroids of the figures lies on the axis? Shouldn’t it be zero instead?

Where did the 52 came from? The one you subtracted from 10 when finding y inertia

You keep saying cubed for the area.. Don’t you mean squared?

I am a bit confused, why in this video the distance of y^- is used while in the 10.36 video only half of both figures were taken? I mean that in this one the centroid distance had to be solved while in the other one it was only divided by 2.
