Awesome video mate. 'Some adventure start like a re-heated Servo coffee' 🤣🤣 that one is gold.
makes me feel like I need to do a health check on the DRZ's stator.

I was just at the Gardens of Stone on Friday.
A beautiful place, but too many maniacs in old 4x4's dusting the roads up.

Definitely needs a revisit one day!

Prior preparation prevents piss poor performance, that's for sure Vern.
Great to see you back on the horse.
Enjoy your Flinders trip :)

I did the flinders last year - I am itching to get back.
One tip - take an extra air filter with you and swap it over on the middle day of the trip.
Enjoy it.

We just came back from there yesterday and I was absolutely blown away and how amazing that area is. However, by watching your video it looks like we missed a lot of the top things to see so tomorrow while I’m at work I’ll be planning another trip down there.

I got foam sleeves that go over your original grips, fattens them up nicely and fits my hand better. Great vid as per usual, love your content.

Cannot believe that lasted down to six volts. I would have bet every thing I owned that 10 to 10.5 was game over ..

Better to happen on a shake down though eh 👌.
Hey have you down a video on comms? I use a Sena 10r on my road bike to just talk to my wife on her bike, but I'm getting into Adventure riding and discovering all the various options from bluetooth to UHF....
Great channel 👏

Advrider posts said that the F800GS’ fuel pump and regulator were design issues so I replaced the fuel pump and the regulator/ stator circuit. My stator was cooked by the regulator - black and brittle.

Additionally to the fuel pump, another design issue for you to look at is the top bolt on the rear shock. The shock is held in place by a rubber bushing/ spacer and the bolt is not strong enough. When I replaced the bolt and spacer with the Best Rest replacement, the original top bolt was bent - exactly as AdvRider posts warned. Happy to share the link to Best Rest if you want.

If you do lots of slow speed off road work you’ll cook stators. My F800 had 4 stator failures in 90, 000km. Usually it kills the rec reg and the battery. The routing of the header pipes under the stator didn’t help stator temps. BMW basically admitted it was a design flaw when they changed the design of the parts to try and lower stator temps. It was just a fact of life owning one. Wheel bearings got changed when I changed tyres, 3 head stem bearing sets. Bent shock bolts despite braces, and eventually a bent frame. Sold it as a wreck for parts. Good luck with it.

Recently had the stator die on my Multistrada in Tassie leaving me stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Good idea to buy a new battery. We had stator problems and got the motobike on a trailer. How many kilometers could ride with a battery?

If you don’t like your grips like I didn’t on my GS I just cut up an old bicycle tube to make 2 sleeves and slipped them over the originals. AWESOME 👍
