Building a 3D End Grain Cutting Board

This week’s woodworking build video is a 3d End Grain Cutting Board with a very unique tessellation. Reminiscent of MC Escher this cutting board was one of the most fun projects I’ve ever built. I also put together an in depth, 2 hour, 11 part class that goes over the whole build process. I really can’t wait to see what you create! Let me know what you’d like to see next. Thanks for watching! Please like, comment and subscribe. Cheers!

Love the fact that you show the mess-ups/imperfections, especially when you're such a big name in the woodworking community. It makes me feel a lot better about my projects because sometimes it bothers me so much.

Hello from Lumberjocks, I am glad to see my drawings were of a help to someone, in making this extremally hard to build board. I did the original board with no jigs, I ended up gluing one triangle at a time, then waiting for the glue to dry before the next piece. It sat on my bench for months. Each piece had to be sanded to fit, to keep clean glue lines. I am glad to see someone has added jigs for the glue up.

Thank you for showing us your mistakes/gaps etc. Hope you know how important it is for people at the earlier stages of woodworking to see our experts making blunders too.

"We don't make woodworking projects to put on the shelves" Katz-Moses, standing in front of years worth of wood joinery.
Sick Editing and great result!! I really enjoyed it.

An 8 minute video does not do justice to the time, hard work and skill that you put into these projects, your passion shines through on every project, beautiful workmanship as always. a real pleasure to watch.

Amazing work and what a demonstrative instructor. I appreciate the instructions but I'm not sure I am tooled up for this.

Love these challenging projects but those of us who do "craft shows" you'll never sell them for any reasonable amount to even begin to turn a profit but please keep them coming as the master craftsman in me really appreciates such talent.

Jonathan, I just finished the first of two boards this weekend and gave it to my mom for her 70th birthday. She absolutely loves it. Called me the next day and asked if I realized there was a mogen david right in the middle of it. I had no idea, but if you look at it just right, you can see it.

@6:25 blew my mind using the clamp as a start and stopping point. I never thought about that and I use the same router. Beautiful cutting board

I love your statement about woodworking projects being for use, not shelf display-with all your beautiful joinery examples on the shelf behind you! LOL

This is a top notch product. I am sure that it gets a lot of attention, but it should it is a work of art.

I love how you showed us the rough bits. Very hard pattern to perfect. Looked great. Only a master woodworker is going to notice and even then they'll understand LOL

"We don't make wood projects to sit on the shelf."

Looks at shelf behind Jonathan...

Just yankin' yer chain Jonathan, I know what you're sayin'.

Beautiful job on that. I assume that you used food safe epoxy?
