I really needed this video, I already have a good bond with my 4 month old birb. He always comes to me when bored or when someone yells at and prefers to be with me. But I still think I can improve our bond thank you for the tips ❤️

Thanks to you’re videos before my budgies wanted to have to do nothing with me, but now they are finally starting to eat from my hand and sit/stand/perch and eat! It has been almost two months but they’ve made so much progress. They had bad experiences with the breeder they were completely scared of humans. Your videos have helped a lot! ❤❤

I'm not jealous my old budgie is tamed. And my youngest budgie just took his first bath in my hand. The trick is spending time and being patient. 🐦🥰👍💯

I found it works to do the hand in the cage. Then add millet to your hand in the cage. And then if you have more than one budgie take it too another room and spend one on one with it. Just short sessions. Use a perch or dowel to practice step up with a reward for doing it. Remember patience is everything. Budgies have a short attention span. Not all Budgies can be tamed either. Depends on the bird.

I have had 2 budgies for 7 months now and last month I had gotten so close to fully taming them, but then when I had to go to California, I didn’t have a travel carrier yet, so I couldn’t have brought them with me. I had to get someone to pet sit, but they didn’t have birbs and weren’t very good at pet sitting them. Then, when I got back they were fully untamed and now here we are.

My experiences over last few years of first time owning small parrots. It takes a lot more time than people think. Most of YouTube would have you think you can do this in a couple days. Maybe these people have magic bird connections but that’s never been my experience. You can do 5 minutes a day once or multiple times a day - the latter will make progress go faster. You really can’t miss a day. And yes you have to move trainee away from other birds. (Sometimes it helps to have another trained bird but not until you have established basic trust with new bird—and even then, it’s hit or miss). Once you get basic trust though, you really don’t lose it and you can stand to be less consistent - though still maintain regular sessions. It all ends in flight training which is when you really feel like it was worth it all! I start with simple target training to build confidence, then target birdie onto hand for step up. This way you are accomplishing something at the same time you are building trust. The bird isn’t just sitting there thinking about your hand in his cage! With my lovebirds I trained step up to my forearm first bc even after a couple of weeks he was still scared of hand but confident of everything else. I got him to step up on arm then deliver treat more towards my hand and slowly moved him to hand. Whatever you can get to work and build on is good. The best about target training is it becomes very reflexive to them - I’ve used it so many times when I’ve gotten in a bind/bird is doing something I don’t want- as soon as he sees stick he can’t help but go for it even if he’s really intent on doing something else. you can train so many other tricks using targeting too. I use a clicker too which I never believed in with dog training but it helps with birds so much bc the human - bird communication is a lot less obvious than human - dog communication! The clicker just makes it clean and clear to the bird what behaviour you want.

I’ve had my bird for over a year now and the closest I’ve come to him stepping in the finger was when he flew on my shoulder.
I’m not sure I’ll ever fix the issue…

It actually took me six months to get my parakeet to trust me! And another 3 months for my other one! At the time, I didn’t have the patience and dedication to take of care of my bird. Let me tell you, patience is key if you want to have a tame bird.

What if you can't create a space for your birds? Also how would you go about getting an untamed bird out of its cage and back in?

It’s been nearly 2 months and my bird is not tamed yet the main reason might be is that when I got them I didn’t know much about them so I was trying to hold them and they prob got scared of that and I regret that a lot, but I have been trying the 5 minute hand trick, I just put my finger through the cage, on the perch. It has been helping tho but it requires a lot of patience. My one bird came to my finger when I was showing him the phone he really likes the phone. The other bird is kinda lazy and is not that scared tho but still goes to the other way when I put my hand near but he does give me a chance to touch it.
Their names are Bluey and Berry

1:21 but I have this yellow bird and whenever I put my finger near her, she always tries to bite and her beak is very sharp so if she bites me, there’s always gonna be a mark left there for a week and a lot of pain when u press on it

I've had my 5-month-old parakeet for about a month now. Unfortunately, due to my exams, I haven't had the chance to commit to the taming process and had to stop. Thing is my parakeet is scared of EVERYTHING. I try to take away its water to change is, he flies around. I make small and slow moves but he gets scared so I try talking to it and baby-talk to it to calm it down. When I place his cage near me, he shows signs that he's comfortable (puffs his feathers, closes his eyes and doesn't walk away from me in fear. I tried helping his with fear by handfeeding but he doesn't even look down at my hand nor does he eat what I offer him. What do I do?

Hey, is it possible for recording a video about training/taming 1 or two birds? Taming a bird is easier said than done, and yes I’m jealous 😭🤚
Unfortunately when we were trying to get the bird in the cage after buying it, it escaped and flew in my room, I think I traumatized the poor thing from grabbing it, I’m VERY new to the owning budgies, also mine are very young, I got them yesterday and tried using some tips in your videos, unfortunately another issue, I’m in 8th grade and school starts within 2-3 days, I get up at 6 am, and usually get home at 3 pm something, idk what to do but I got them about a week ago, I just need tips lol, I would appreciate any tips 😃
